How to Update Icons

Hi there,

Still enjoying using CWB ADV SP much faster now on my 030

However my 2nd partition that was installed on CWB Lite has all the old Icons for Drawers, etc. Is there an easy way to update these without creating new .info files for each?

Cheers,

Steve.

it works only on OS3.9/3.5

for Wb3.1/3.0 there's a program on MagicWb package named iconcopy

ClassicWB already has an update icon utility built in.

It's under the Run menu->System->Icon update or update icons in the ClassicWB LITE.

It can also be accessed from the right click menu.

I'll try that, will it update all icons or just the ones I choose?

I couldn't see that option yesterday but i'm sure its there, still a Novice in this big Amiga world!

You can update groups of icons at the same time. I'm not at home at the moment and don't have access to try it out - that's why the info above is a little sketchy.

There is a readme file for it in the Locale/Help drawer too.

Ok... I found the icon update and can do them one at a time, but can't find a way to do them in bulk.

Also is there a good place to get good icons for apps like Doom and emulators? I saw a few in the icon folders but keen to see some more...

You can do them in bulk - you have to select all the icons at the same time then drag them over. I'm guessing you've probably done them by now, but for the future:

You can use either Amiga + A (or menu Windows->Select Contents) or the drag box to select all the drawers, then hold down shift (to keep them selected) and drag them all over to the destination box.

As for good icons, there are Frogs PygmIcons Newicons:

There are quite a few packs on Aminet too. For size reasons, I only included a small number of these in the icons drawer.

It may have what you want or you can easily make your own. Snapshot a doom intro screen or get one from HOL, then place the image file on your Workbench.

Open Image2Icon (System->Image->Icon or right click Workbench->System->Image -> Icon) then drag the picture file over to the utility. Shown in this vid at about the 3 minute mark:

http://classicwb.abime.net/classicweb/features.htm

It will create a newicon for you. You can also create newicons with multiple images using Personal Paint. I created the "State of the Art" one that way.
