I'd have to vote for Beast 1. Beast 2 might've had a nice soundtrack, but even with the cheat, 1 mistake & you virtually have to re-begin,along with obscure puzzles made it a nightmare.
Beast 1 was the game that so often was demoed in the shops for what the Amiga could do.
That music was unforgettable.

Has there ever been a game series on Amiga (or other platforms) that had more haunting music than the Shadow of the Beast series? I think not! Kudos to you, Psygnosis (and thanks for the nightmares)

Try Apidya. Mind you, not a series, but it beasts the whole series on its own, IMHO.

The Apidya soundtrack is one of the best soundtracks ever written for a game. The way each world has its own music, slightly remixed in each level is just genious.

Well, Well, well.

At present time we have the following:

Beast 1 - 30%
Beast 2 - 35%
Beast 3 - 35%

This is truly amazing, and proves that not one game lets down the trilogy, or far exceeds any of the other games in the trilogy.

I cannot think of another game/movie trilogy that is like this.

For example:

If this poll were about the best Godfather movie we'd probably see something like this:

Godfather 1 - 48%
Godfather 2 - 48%
Godfather 3 - 4%

The 3rd Godfather in a way let's down the trilogy.

Ignoring the newer Star Wars movies The Return Of The Jedi is nowhere near as good as the other 2. And Phantom Menace is just pants. I haven't seen the other one as I like to think of Star Wars starting at Ep4 & ending at Ep6.

Can anyone else think of a vote this close in deciding the best of a trilogy?

Just voted for Beast 3, it's clearly the best because it looks good, it has playability, it can be completed without cheating, it has clever puzzles, it doesn't just involve walking and punching.

The other two are poor games, the gfx on the first one redeems it a little and the intro on the second one does the same. But only a little...

Beast 3 is a good game, the other two are average (at best)

it'll probably get a load more votes now from people who never saw it the first time round. I like digging out old polls, it makes for interesting reading...

3rd for me too,.. its overall a better game than others.

but I love the first one, its graphics are state of the art. Loading times was one of the things that more annoyed me. Playability is questionable, but its graphics made me want to play it. I finished without cheat, but just one time, and having finished others times with cheat.

the second was a deception for me, I hoped a lot.. and I loved the weapon the Beast used in the screenshots available. But when I got a copy it was pants. I even dont liked the graphics.

I agree with Akira.
Beast 1 is technically impressive, but the game is impossible to finish without knowing *exactly* everything comes up into the screen.
Beast 2 have a brilliant intro, but graphics is worse and gameplay is dull (even if slightly better than chapter one).
Beast 3 is a mix of everything, good gameplay, tough but not impossible to finish.

Beast 3 was the most playable. Not another Psygnosis demo.

I'm glad I resurrected this post because it seems that the first time round people simply had no idea what a good game was!

Now we have the majority of people voting (let's call these the 'clever' people) who are voting for the (obivious) winner Beast 3.

Just goes to show...

The new generation of EAB members have sense, you older members are stupid. It's obvious!
