@ Gibs , in Minimig does it work at full speed only with SPI mode ?

edit : i haven't the spi mode and the video (252mb) i'm running in Minimig is slow so i think the problem comes from here , would just like you to confirm this.

Thanks.

Because you recorded that using a webcam facing an LCD screen in distance for all we know that video is running at 5fps!!

Can you not connect the actual output of the Amiga (you have 3 output choices from RF to SCART )

The future is a fast IDE drive (7200 RPM) and an uncompressed player written for OCS/ECS chipset bandwidth though. There is no need to compress anything so this player you are all jacking off to is a waste of time. All this is possible if you bought and ICD internal IDE adaptor and stuck it in a 1985 A1000.

I disown this thread as it has become worthless now, using compressed video and talking of ARM equipped Minimigs is all bollox really.

The only existing software that would be interesting to use is Anim+SLA format but noooooooo nobody even bothered to reply to that thread.

This software is HAM6 -uncompressed " it basicly is an AMIN Player - So whats your point

"HAM6 is the original Hold And Modify mode supported by the OCS, ECS"

The very first video of this running is an Amiga A2000 playing at 15 FPS

Two or Three people have made further videos using this on "Real Amigas" in this thread

Have you even tried it? Have you even tried makeing an Anim file?
The Question in the first place was Stupid, you get a sensible reply and you dont like it.

The thread has drifted off-topic and should be split one of fantasy and one of reality
Take it easy

Thing is: there are Amiga clones made for the China market.

They are "ordinary" video CD players (practically a VCR that plays from CD). Using a humble 68000 for playback and the Amiga custom chips for audio & video.

Food for thought.

I thought that video on the A600 was pretty disappointing, surely much better is possible on 68000 Amiga.

Check out this video player on the C64..

Hi,

I think something amazing this technique of Ham6, I have been experimenting with avi4hv converter and my conclusions are these:

not to use videos over 30 minutes. (for the converter to convert it)
use the same name for different files. avi. wav and. hv
for my A1200 with 64MB ACA1230/42Mhz videos look perfect with this conversion with 320 x 216 20 fps Stereo

anyone know if this technique can be used with Ham8. would be amazing to use resolutions of 1440 * 576 in PAL mode and 16 million colors.

greetings to each and Amiga forever.

my experiments can be seen here:

Yes HAM8 is technically possible, I looked at converting it but it's written in nasty basic so I can't do it

you mean to change the code of avi4hv.bas Basic code?,

Think this could be done by modifying the converter for HAM8

O would also have to modify also the HAMP.RUN?

There is a file called HAMVID.ASM know if this is the source of HAMP.RUN

regards

Lately I have been using avi4hv again to convert some other video trailers and had still the same annoying dithering problem (that increase the HAM fringing).

So I finally mailed to avi4hv author, TJ Edmister, to ask him how he could manage to render his sample videos without any dithering, and if there was any hidden DOS argument to activate/deactivate dithering that we would have missed.

As an answer, he has been very kind to make an updated version of avi4hv, which now has the so desired dithering option !

Well, here is what could be considered like TJ Christmas gift :

And once again, a big thanks to TJ Edmister !

ill check it out

A very simple packing would be good for example if you have a small picture and large black border consisting of thirty zeros this could become something like 0x30.

Very nice ! It looks as if you were filming a TV displaying the news !
Except for the audio which seems to slow down a bit, the overall looks quite amazing for an unexpanded A600.

I started a thread elsewhere, but had no responses, so thought Id fish here instead

I actually started writing a video editting suite of sorts for classic amiga a little while ago for doing the very thing this thread is about (an easy way to convert videos from current industry standard file formats to something a classic amiga can cope with).

So far I've basically written a front end that incorportates functionality from existing command line tools. ffmpeg has been very handy so far giveing the ability to rip audio tracks, convert between file types, grabbing frames from videos as images (and sewing them back together) and so on. The "problem" however is that it doesnt deal with things like iff anims or iff images so I need to obtain that functionality elsewhere.

Can anybody please recommend any good command line tools to convert from png and/or jpg to iff please?
Also can iff anims stream from harddrive or must they be in memory? They seem the easiest to implement, but I dont really know much about the format. Also, how would I go about constructing a cdxl video from a series of images? Im also wondering what the overhead would be for using datatypes? Could simply running a series of consecutive image files be an option? Without having tried Im going to assuming i/o would be the main issue there?

Anyway, in short Im more than willing to write the software, I just need a few gaps filled in if anyone can help please?
