I love Rock'n'Roll

http://hol.abime.net/1266

I can't get enough of this game, its simply awesome, I admit though that I'm not very good at it, hence why I love the level 1 music so much
(I have got off level 1 though)
On level 1 theres a warp to a higher level although I only ever found it once by pure accident!
This game is underated and more people should be aware of it and play it, my rating 10/10

One of the first games I played, and I agree it's really great. I think some of the in-game tunes are old rock'n'roll hits. Anyone who recognizes them?

Here's a link for the music, they are in an lha not sure if they are mods or not though, I think they have to be played
within workbench with an Amiga music player program, Amiga Amp, Deli Player?

http://www.exotica.org.uk/wiki/Rock_%27n_Roll

Games a bit like RocknRoll; Oxyd, Enigma

Those are mods; you can play them on a PC with DeliPlayer or a WinAmp/XMplay plugin.

They're not modules, but Dan's comment was accurate, in case TCD's comment would give the idea that the music isn't playable on PC. Works fine in DeliPlayer, but XMplay seems to need a plugin.

And Kitty, glad you're rolling around exploring... fine game indeed. Some levels are just an exercise in "running errands" though, if you know what I mean.

Even if 'mod' is a rather vague file type description, I think storing both the pattern data and the samples in one file is a common thing among them. Oh and Dan mentioned a 'WinAmp/XMplay plugin'

There's XMPlay (http://support.xmplay.com) which is a stand alone player for these files but I cant seem to find a specific plugin for winamp to play these files (which I would prefer rather than installing a whole new player)

In the lha theres files that start with smpl for eg smpl.beach_party, then theres ones that start with mdat for eg mdat.beach_party.

Am I correct in saying the actual music files are the ones that start with mdat as the other ones dont work in winamp.
Aside from that the plugin works great TCD thanks

mdat is the song/pattern data and smpl are the used samples. You need both, but you 'start' the mdat file
Edit : Which you can also see in my cool TFMX link above

@ Kitty - there's so many games like this one that I'd forgotten about playing years ago but as soon as I saw the screen shot I remembered it!

Just downloaded it and had a quick go - quality.

Thanks for reminding me of it!

I remember in a past thread I requested lovely feelings to be converted to mp3 which was accomplished but I think it was originally a .mod file before.
Is there any way to convert all these tracks to mp3? I would imagine this would be harder seeing as they are 2 files to each song.
I have an idea of playing these in the car while driving, or is that a bit too geeky?

Not really. All that converters do is play the files and record the output.

Sorry to quote twice on your post pmc but I just had an awesome thought! Obviously your demos, your decisions on what music you choose for them, but I would love to hear the 'Lovely Feelings' track from this game incorporated into one of your demos, maybe part of a megademo or something?
I could just see now shiny retro orbs/bobs bouncing along to this tunage, just an idea

Maybe ami_junkie or one of the other ProTracker dudes could do an "inspired by" or a remix version - that way it wouldn't be lifted / identical but it'd have the same flavour. I'm not sure if it'd make it into the megademo but why not something else...?

I use Deliplayer 2, (registered or you'll only get mono instead of stereo), so I can use that to record to MP3's. It's probably the best one going as you choose what you want recording. along with which sub song too Save to .wav first as this is lossless, then convert to .mp3 using Nero or better

Geeky, hell no, I still play Desert Dream on my phone atm, 'cause my car broke, but when I drove around I played it all loud I didn't care and still don't
