What is the diffrence?

And can I play all Amiga 500 games on an Amiga 600?

Hello

If you visit my site at http://Amiga-Online.tripod.com it'll tell you all the spec and differences of these two machines.

Some of the older games wont run on the 600 because of the kickstart.

Basically tho. The 600 has the Enhanced Chipset (ECS), 1 MB of RAM, no numeric keypad and a PMCIA slot on the site.

The 500 has 512K as standard and runs the Original Chipset (OCS) and is quite a lot larger than the 600.

There are a good deal of A500 games which have problems with more than 512 kb. If you got an upgrade for the A500 you could disable it, which isn't the case for the 600.

Hmm, but I don't think it is the 1MB chipram that makes troubles with some games, but it is more the kick 2.0 which comes with the A-600.

As far as I know only fastram can cause problems with old games.
I have no idea about programming, but I heard that with these very old games some part of them is first loaded into the upper 512k if it exists, but the game needs to have this part in chipmemory, and therefore will crash since the custom chips cannot access it.
But if ( like in the A-600 ) the ful 1MB is chipram then this problem shouldn't occur.
