Weird A500 boot-up behavior
Whenever I turn on my Amiga 500 (cold or hot boot - doesn't matter), I get one random color (filled screen) before the actual cycling-through-gray palette. It disappears after around 500ms to 1 second... No signs of error after boot!
It's usually pink or white/dark gray, but sometimes cyan (!)... Seems to me like error codes, right? Checklist: PSU OK? Check No caps leaks? Check Kickstart OK? Tried another one? Check, and Check Reseated all chips? Check Tried to boot the A500 without NO expansions? Check Inspected the mobo good? Check What IS this?! It's not like it's a big deal, but I'd like to know what can cause it.. Maybe it's actually making conflicts. |

unless its any of these
* Red: An error was found in the ROM. * Green: An error was found in Chip ram. * Blue: An error was found in the custom chips. * Yellow: The CPU has found an error before the error trapping software (Guru) has been activated. I would`t worry to much, I`m no expert but its probably random junk in display ram or similar, a few more weeks using it will show if its serious or not now get back to enjoying you retro demos |

... It hadn't been in use for like 4 weeks. *Every* time I boot it, I get those colors. Cold boot or hot boot...
Also, I don't see anything about "cyan" nor "pink" in there. |

That's because those colours you are describing are not errors (or at least known errors). I must admit, it does seem a little strange.
Has there been any additions/replacements to the mobo at all? |

It might have been that one, but I don't think so. I thought I had saved a copy of the one I am talking about, but I can't find that either!
If I'd had any of those bootup problems myself, then I would not have forgotten it! However, the good news is that, like you, I don't think 8bitbusby has got anything to worry about. |
