Question SENSI - Graphics query

Hi All,

I've just finished configuring an A1200 with HD and 8 mb Ram to run SWOS from the HD. Marvellous.

I see that there is an update for SWOS ((97/98) that includes new graphic files for the billboards and goal celebrations.

Does anyone know what format these files are in ?? I believe they were originally by SENSIBLE SOFTWARE but someone must have deciphered the format to modify them ...

I'd like to add some new graphics myself.

Can't get to my TV these days, my mate is always around playing SWOS

They are most likley a RAW format, you need a raw converter and also to know the width and height of the GFX and the bitplanes. you can then convert them back to iff etc..

Any suggestions on which editor to use to view RAW files ???

I seem to remember that PPaint has something like that ... or is it C source ....

I suppose that the file itself will give an indication of the dimensions or at the very least the max no. of pixels used, and teh colour of each pixel ?

I tried to view the files in an ASCII viewer but it wasn't meaningful.

Any input greatly appreciated.

Try SwosEd v1.85

It allows you to change game's graphics using any paint program.

Download it from here:

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I tried that program, Steve, but it only alters the colours of the strips.

I really would like to alter the billboard adverts and victory celebrations.

Can any coders out there lend me a hand ?

No No No No No No No No NO.

If you read the documentation you'll find out that you can save out the graphics as IFF files. Yes that includes the billboard adverts and victory celebrations. You can then edit the graphics in your favourite paint program. However there is a downside. The program is shareware and you won't be able to save your newly edited graphics in the special swos format unless you register the program. Registration is 10. I'll be registering it soon. I don't think there is another program that lets you do this.

Wink A Ha !

Thanks Steve,

I should have RTFM

I'll probably need to register the program then.

That'll teach me not to read the Docs fully !

Thanks again .....
