I fancied a Mac Mini G4 anyway... well a G4 Macbook really... hopefully this will be added to the list of supported G4 Macs. And the price dropped by half as Alex suggested.

As long as it does not have an Nvidia GPU you stand a chance. It has taken them ages to write the driver for the Radeon 9200!

I am not saying that there will ever be MorphOS for anything other than a MacMini but I would imagine that the iBook G4 is closer in spec to MacMini than PowerBook G4. Some models have a ATI Radeon 9200 GPU.

But do not ask me, ask the MorphOS forums.

I did read that 32MB VRAM was a non-supported spec at the moment. So i'm also guessing one with 64MB would be more likely to be compatible in the future.

That cant be true - most Mac Minis are 32mb VRAM only the silent upgrade have 64mb VRam.

Makes me laugh after the argument I had with Piru about moana not working on all Minis because of the graphics driver.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very impressed that they've finally done it....I'd just be a lot happier if they'd managed to port it to the current MacMini

How close is PearPC to a MacMini? Miles away?

I was thinking the same thing. It emulates a G4... and that's all I know. I was looking at the PearPC sites last night and there hasn't been any development for over 3 years. At least most people with PC's running Windows could try MorphOS then consider investing in the correct hardware.

Surprisingly enough, about the time that Intel MacOS X became popular.

Funny that.

Time to start a bounty for this? Might be possible to make it compatible to OS 4.1 too, get more people interested... thinking out loud here.

Morph has 68k emulation called trance for running Classic software - dont know how good it is and with the 1.42/1.5ghz Minis hopefuly be enough power for UAE to run those games nicely.

Are there any videos of MorphOS 2.4 running on a Mac Mini? 68k stuff would be a good video to see.

Not quite what i'm getting at. I want to try the whole 4.1 experience so see if I want to go whole hog, get hardware etc... No way am I spending 600+ for hardware and software only to find it isn't to my liking.

Cause morphos checks the hardware before installing.

I would buy it if it was cheaper. I just think that 150EUROS is a hell of a lot to pay for what would essentially be for me, an OS to fiddle with. There are also no kind of developer licenses available it seems. Nothing to enourage a purchase from someone who has a PPC mac mini kicking around. It's a perfect price to get the Amiga users who have been waiting to buy this on board, but after that has happened, I don't see any "new" customers. Unless they plan to cut the price after the initial rush, but then they are going to have some unhappy early customers!

Of course, if they are only interesting in marketing morphos to those already in the know, then this doesn't matter. But I don't see it growing beyond that which is a shame.
