Hey Bump,

welcome mate! This is a great site, and an awesome community, (at least in my experience).

Glad you've "found" that Amiga buzz again - I haven't looked back since getting an A1200 again, soooo many classics to re-discover!

Cheers me hearties,
(don't ask why I started this post in pirate lingo - I don't know either)

I love the reference to Impossible Mission Hairy_Boots
And Cammy is a T-Rex too! So you guys have a fascination with dinosaurs too! What an excellent site.

I've had the Amiga buzz bubbling on slow boil since I sold my beautiful 600 - but with all the emulators I've tried since on my PC turning out to give me mainly frustration and pain I've been satisfied to daydream about the good old days.

Now I've started building an arcade cabinet and my love for old fashioned games is bubbling over. I'm unsure, but perhaps this mame style cabinet could harbour an Amiga game like Defender of the Crown? Then I could get into a swordfight, save Katherine from those evil Normans and put a Saxon on the English throne once more!

*Aherm... apologies to all you English folk from Newcastle who were barracking for the Normans.

Wink

Oh Crap! Yeah wat you said Prowler! Edit!

My lady just looks at me funny when I talk of longing to visit England to check out castles. :/

But I shall not be deterred! One day I shall visit the land of my great grandparents.
So you got a lotta castles eh? are they big and complex or just scattered here n there privately owned?

Ah The good old dark ages sets such a romantic knightly war torn stage for so many Amiga games...

Are you interested in medieval history then, Bump, or just Amiga games with that as a theme, or both?

Bring on both - I was hugely into Ancient History at school. Greece, Wars etc. Then fantasy and the whole knights thing. Amiga games focusing on these themes always made me happy.

I'm not too good at remembering historical facts with any great accuracy, but I'm a keen reader of historical fact and fiction books concerning the ancient Egyptians and English and European history from the eleventh century to the early part of the twentieth century (when I have some free time!). And I'm not averse to a bit of historical fantasy either.

New member, new member! Hi Bump, welcome to EAB.

Please don't be put off by all the potatoes and our current little off topic discussion. It's quite rare we have these kind of in-depth board debates.

Nice to have you around and hope you enjoy your stay!!!!!!

Hah! Potatoes galore.

But good point! I was asking about if it would be possible to get Defender of the Crown working on a mame cabinet and then I was waylaid by people wanting to have a good old yarn

Great to see so many people keen for a chat about history, gaming, and generally the days when things were more simple:P

or were they?

(noticed a few interesting topics on the hate/wow of today/our youth)

Thanks fer the welcome!
