Wink SWIV, which is the best version?

for me:

1. Amiga
2. Super Nintendo
3. MegaDrive
4. C64 (playability similar to Amiga version)
5. Gameboy Color
6. Amstrad CPC (slow and in mono, but it's still not bad game)

I know nothing about Atari ST, ZX Spectrum and Acorn Archimedes versions.

I used to play the SNES version, it was great. Amiga looked better i guess, but lacked music tracks. Other versions are far behind.

SNES and MD ports are quite similar, but MD has worse audio.
Amiga has better gfx than SNES and MD versions but has no music.
ST version is quite similar than the Amiga version but with less colours and worse audio.
Acorn version looks like to be a perfect match of the Amiga version.

About 8bit versions the only remarkable one is the GameBoy Colour version. C64 has nice playability but awful gfx, CPC and Speccy have better gfx but monocrome mode, and less playability than C64 version.

So if would say there's a better version of SWIV has to be the SNES version, followed closelly by Amiga-Acorn and Genesis ones.

^ The peecee version is a beta and still has some annoying bugs, although it's not too bad, if it doesn't crash

I dont like speccy version.

Amiga version is the best for me. Silkworm and SWIV were among the very first games I played under emulator in autumn and winter in 2006 after years without gaming.

Undecided between the SNES and the Amiga version here. Would say the Amiga version wins for a bit better controls and enemy formations. The graphics are 'better' on the SNES though. MD version isn't bad either, so a close third.

Yup, I'd go with that, though given the hardware it's running on the C64 version is really very good.

I only played the 16-bit versions.

The first version I purchased was the one for the Super Nintendo for a budget price of 59 Good ol' Guilders. It was one of my favorite titles for the system.

I didn't like the SEGA Megadrive title, due to it's toned-down graphics and sound. But I guess it's a good game, IF you weren't spoiled by playing the SNES-version first...

The Amiga version is excellent, though the game lacks an in-game soundtrack, it has one of my favorite intro tunes ever.

I also like that level that was a tribute to the classic Namco arcade classic, Xevious...

I can't choose between the Amiga and SNES-versions...

Ned langman seems to say that the snes version is not as vast as the amiga version is, and it took only 6 months to do. Guess here that the amiga release is overall better

I prefer the SFX of the Amiga version over the music of the SNES version, crank the volume up and those explosions sound epic on the Amiga.

Yeah... Amiga soundfx from SWIV and Robocop2 are like being in a fireworks show.. amazing at the time. They were perfect for leaving stress.

SWIV has become part of Amigalore by being the best version. Sound in my experience is 50% of the gaming experience and by that logic the Amiga version wins by a landslide!

"Sound in my experience is 50% of the gaming experience"

That is so true! Often the sound is neglected that is unforgiven

Just try SEGA MD games!
