Phew! Just finished.

The perimeter has been wired up to the national grid, there's enough voltage there to keep the angriest Tyrannosaurus Rex at bay, so it should work with any other infiltrating bodies

But will that keep Trollminator T-101s at bay?

^ You never know what lurks beneath the horrors of a.org. Be prepared for a future attack, we must not let our guard down

Well i've counted at least $1600 pledged by users in that thread in about 24 hours (ish), along with numerous others offering to add to a pledge. Wayne may well get a boat load of money for a.org after all. Odd.

Well, I will pledge a one-way containment field that is Dolphin friendly.

I think we need more Dolphins on EAB.

Actually most of the things Wayne says on page 5 of that thread are a tad deluded if you ask me. Oh and eLowar posted an interesting figure on IRC : http://www.mywebsiteworth.com/site/amiga.org
Just for comparison : http://www.mywebsiteworth.com/site/abime.net

Surely you jest...

Alas, a vocal minority seem to use Amiga related websites as a trolling ground. Im sure that they are (or were) Amiga fans in the past, but some people just like pissing on other peoples bonfires... such is life I suppose.

Personally I wish Wayne all the best, and recognise that A.org has played - and still does play - an important role in keeping the community (such as it is) going.

I get the feeling that any response on amiga.org if it is slightly negative towards wayne's POV will be jumped upon. Feel sorry for c.gutjahr or so especially as I believe he is one of the aminet maintainers and do what they do for no money or profit and is a lot of work.

I always get the feeling some of these "community" sites are constantly utilising donations with some kind of blackmail scenario. ie. "we need hosting money or we will close etc etc". Donations should be considered goodwill. Sure we call come on hard times, but I dont feel that is the case really.

There are plenty of webmasters to fork money out of their own pocket (me included), and do it for the love of the platform, information, media and so on, so that the things we love may live on. For me it isnt about "this is mine", and you must pay me, kind of thing.

EAB for me is certainly the most balanced Amiga orientated forum. not including mine of course that is never used ;-) heh. Maybe if amiga.org did close and people came here, they might get a fresh more open perspective ;-)

Unhappy

best of luck Wayne & thank you for the great site & dedication to the Amiga community for the past 15 years
Perhaps the community can get together & purchase & run the site If so, I'll chip in for sure
