Post Need Help Naming our Feature Film on Videogames

Greetings, everyone. As some of you know, I've been working with my friend Bill Loguidice on a feature film about the history of videogames. The film will cover gaming from its earliest roots, through the generations, up to modern times and speculate on the future. It's a fun romp, with tons of gameplay footage from all eras, a cool animated timeline feature, and personal interviews with over a dozen key figures such as John Romero and David Crane. We're making it with Lux Digital Pictures, who have lots of experience and make fabulous documentaries. In all humility, I think it's going to be by the best videogame documentary ever produced!

However, we need a title for this thing. We're undecided about what sounds best, so please vote on this poll, and it'd be great if you could provide some commentary about your choices as well. Also, if you have an idea for a better name, feel free to sound off. You might also want to check the threads at Armchair Arcade on this topic:

http://armchairarcade.com/neo/node/2749 (Name that movie! thread)
http://armchairarcade.com/neo/node/2762 (AA Poll)

Thanks so much for your help!

Then it needs an all-emcompassing title such as "The Videogaming Phenomenon".

I voted for 'The Videogame Revolution' (sounds a tad too serious though). I think that 'Woot! - The Videogame Revolution' would be the best choice. You have this catchy buzzword and a part that explains it I can almost see the cover for the DVD

Wow, you guys are fast. Just to clarify: There will be a subtitle on any of these, so don't worry about that. Just imagine something like "The Story of Videogames" or so on attached to the titles above.

The Age of Videogames has a good ring to it and it's true. Games can be art and sometimes have huge budgets. They also play an important role in developing hardware and software to a new level. If robots are ever fully realised, then the software used to run them will have roots in games.

The Art of Videogames or something along those lines would also be a good title imho, but it might not suit your film, even though gaming has effected nearly every other form of art.

I like references to older Arcade games, simple terms like "Game Over Please insert Coin"

Even more simple would be something like, "Press Start" A History of Video Games...

Yes, I like that one!

Or perhaps "Press Start" The Emergence of Video Games...

I have adapted this to...

"Push Start Button - A Journey through the History of Video Gaming"

Should be shorter and simpler imo

"The History of Video Gaming" is enough.

Or just "Video Gaming History"

edit

"The History of Video Games"
"The Video Gaming History"

I like this one myself, in my opinion better than the ones on the poll.

We got lots of suggestions! I still haven't seen one, though, that really seemed to click with me. That may never happen, of course, but at least we have some good options on the table and have some idea which ones won't work.

The three we're looking at now are "Playing with Power," "The Age of Videogames/Videogame Age," and "Epic Win." I didn't realize at the time I made this poll, but there is already a documentary called "The Videogame Revolution," so that one is out.

You cannot call it "Epic Win", please.
