Nothing is on sale, and no word about support or SDK. (Or should that be HDK?)

I'm really an FPGA person, so once the hardware is up and running I'll maintain and enhance the Amiga core. I'm working with a few other people on it as well.

You can expect initially the board to behave like an ARM enhanced MiniMig with more RAM and DVI, but the short term aim is to get a 68020/30 softcore and enhanced video so ECS level at least. AGA may not be the best way to go, the hardware can do much better but the problem is driver/software compatibility. The Replay board is more of a platform, so it will support many different cores from different developers. The boot structure is designed from the start to make this easy.
Interesting...

Hi Alex,
I like that, I'll have to put that on my card as well

"Nothing is on sale, and no word about support or SDK. (Or should that be HDK?) "

Not yet, I need to complete the board verification before I get more boards produced. Once I give the go-ahead they can be mass produced quickly.

Clearly the HDK cannot be released until I am finished with it, although I think I am just about there with everything apart from the DRAM.

Minimig Update

There's an update from yaqube for Minimigs with the ARM controller.
Even though Minimigs are quite expensive looks good
http://www.minimig.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=183

A new version of firmware files is available. This release requires an ARM controller.

Changes and new features:

ARM firmware - support for:

- MMC/SD/SDHC cards
- FAT16/FAT32 filesystems
- subfolders (unlimited number of entries and depth)
- Long File Names
- alphabetical sorting of entries
- selection of files and subfolders with a keypress
- scrolling of entries with PgUp/PgDn/Home keys
- selection of parent directory with Backspace key
* up to 4 virtual floppy drives
* up to 2 hard files emulating A600/A1200 hard disk controller (up to 4095 MB each)
- optional higher memory card transfer speed (requires simple hardware modification - highly recommended)
- firmware upgrades directly from the memory card

FPGA - new features:

- improved system timing (blitter, CIAs, ROM)
- minor compatibility improvements (CIA access, INTREQ)
- support for two virtual hard disks
- implemented alliasing of custom register space (Kickstart 1.2 now works)

Upgrade instructions in included readme file.

yaqube has posted a video of a new core, implementing AGA features - runs on MikeJ's Replay board:

Yeah, it's seriously a QL thing.
But, could someone summarize where this all stuff stands?
I'm watching all the minimig infos with wide open eyes, and in the meantime I can't get some basic infos about it.
For example: in the videos I see some flickering issues with the screen handling. Like in Lion King in this latest vid. Does it means that there's no double buffered screens?
Still have to operate with HDF-s, instead of the standard dir tree of the SD card?
This ARM board means some kind of extension instead of a new version of the whole board? (Well, maybe this one I can answer with some diggin' to the announcements, specs, but have not so much time recently.)
And maybe I still could find some other things to ask...
Anyone can give the answers at least for these?

Thanks at all!

Don't know the answers to all your questions, but can tell you the ARM board was an extension for the Minimig v1.1 board, what is being discussed today is a new version of the Minimig core running on a new board, the Replay board (a.k.a. FPGA Arcade).

One important point to undestand is the Minimig core is not tied to one hardware platform, it exists as HDL code (Verilog originally, don't know what it's written in now), which describes how the hardware works. There's actually quite a few boards that run the Minimig core, the Replay board is likely to be the new 'standard'.

I think the A600 HDD controller has been recreated, don't quote me on that though.

Seriously a QL thing? What do you mean by that? Take it you mean 'cool' rather than something Sinclair related. ; )

I remember reading that WHDload needed an AGA machine to run, does this new core mean WHDload will work, or does the missing 020 still rule that out?

Looking forward to when the 030 core gets integrated, mikej is going to work on one when the Replay board is finished apparently, good times. : )

No Whdload does not require AGA to run, I used to have it on my souped up A500

... to run installed programs

* CPU 68000 (68010+ is recommended because some installs require the VBR for the 'quit by a key' feature)
* Kickstart 2.0 (version 37+)
* a minimum of 1.0 MB RAM (sometimes more, it depends on the installed program)
