how important is the 'cycle exact' option ?

hi,
im needing to untick the 'cycle exact' box in the chipset options to run stuff without sound probs (performance related)

so im wondering what issues that may throw up, i am a perfectionist when it comes to running my amiga stuff and it wud be nice to know if i may miss something, however minor, from games performance or effects or accuracy.

maybe its only important for a handfull of games ?, maybe some bits and bobs might be missing from some games ?

Have a look at these two threads :

http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=40332

So you should only enable it, if the game/demo won't run or has graphic errors.

cheers,

but im still none the wiser as to how much more computer power is needed to run 'cycle exact', cos i wud like to leave it on at all times cos ive noticed in older threads a few games issues with this option off.

OR

is there a full list somewhere of games with known 'cycle exact' issues, i know its a bit lazy of me not to fully experiment for myself, but some issues can crop up late in a game, and some i may not even be aware of even when they are staring me in the face,e,g, missing doors in nebulus2

"It depends". Heavy custom chip activity (blitter/copper/etc) = very high CPU usage in cycle-exact.

Lists are useless because they will get out of date really quickly..

Well then just enable cycle exact late in the game No really, you can change this setting anytime while you are playing and won't break the game. Nevertheless such a list would be quite handy indeed
