While I reckon having new hardware is absolutely awesome eyond belief, I do think we actually need software to go on it. If we had some decent applications then it would be amazing to use the Amiga again, but at the moment I cannot justify a purchase for something that can run only the OS....no matter how great it is.

I was in the mindset of getting a SAM but I wouldn;t have anything to actually run on it. I really hope we get some apps....honestly I do because i`d be one of the first to be queing up for a new SAM MB however, until then, well....i`ll just have to stick with either an A1200 bought off ebay or Winuae, which is a superb piece of software.

Seriously, wake up people.

There is no future for Amiga, there never will be.

Enjoy what was made, and what still exists today.

HURRAH!

I plan to buy it all and to start producing proper ( ) Amiga's again.
Failing that, a porn shop will have to do.

I can see I'm wasting my time here so I won't be making any more noise, if you don't support the new Amiga line then don't... but don't expect me to welcome you a few years down the road because you think it is finally up to spec for your tastes or cheap enough...

I have never left the Amiga so how do you expect me to view everyone else? LOL I'm self righteous because that is where I am... given different variables you'd probably view something in a similair light...

and my comments are right you just aren't thinking properly... when I say something it refers to the ultimate outcome, not the immediate significance.

eg when I say you are anti Amiga I do not mean you do not like your Amiga 1.x to 3.x experience but I mean you're simply ignoring the newer hardware because you choose to based on your ideals or perception... in effect, Anti or negative...

I'm sure alot of you people waste money every week but you accept it because it is part of your choosen lifestyle... make room for a new Amiga why shouldn't it make a suitable grade? The OS is far better than anything out there... you really are a whacked bunch... heh
Why do os 4 fanboys

1) get excited at PDA class performance
2) seem to hate real Amigas?

Answers on a post card to the usual address

If it doesn't have a blitter, copper etc it's not an Amiga.
UAE is SAM is not. Build a better mousetrap and people will come. This sad parody doesn't cut it.

If it's easy:

For me it is simple:

A SAM running OS4 is not better than my Classic, with it I can do many things a SAM with OS4 cant.

I play Amiga games with no compatibility issues, I have USB 2.0 support and watch TV on my workbench screen. On the SAM I cant do those things.

BTW, I have used OS4 for a week (Clean install), and it was so unstable, it gurud all over the place. It had like a million of preference programs that half of them were redundant.

I sold my SAM a month after I bought it.

I'm sorry but any new Amiga is the future?
Amiga died when Commodore went bust.
Please tell me what games can you play on a Sam?
If you want a Sam for use like you use a pc then why not just pay half the price and buy a pc.
I don't see any benefits in wasting money on a new Amiga just for OS4.
I used to like the idea of a new Amiga machine but over time I realised its just wasted money.
Btw, I'm speaking my mind even though apparantly its not allowed in this thread ..
What was you expecting the reply posts to be like, everyone giving their full praise to a new Amiga despite if they like it or not?

SAM to *me* is yawn.

But I am for all hardware projects, so nothing negative to people who care for this. Someone will be happy

just found this thread after over 1 year of owning my Samflex@800 running OS4.1 update 2 and I can honestly say I love my Sam as much (or maybe even more than my 1200 with Blizzard030@50)...my Samflex@800 runs my favourite classic games and most apps via glUAE and also great modern games which my 1200 can't...my Samflex flies on the internet and my 1200 barely crawls.

my Samflex is my PC for everyday stuff and my 1200 is my old mate....I love both of them and they compliment each other....AMIGA 2010 AND STILL HAVING FUN BABY

Wow you own a SAM Whoop de do dah! big deal.

Not many folk would own up to spending so much on such an expensive piece of landfill. Realistically my old Acer 233x laptop is probably more usefull than the SAM and it can do SO much more in the real world as well as run and play Amiga games. As for the X1000, well isn't that basically just another PC.

Long live the old 500, 600 and 1200 Amigas, your so called modern Amiga ie SAM is at the end of the day just an expensive cross between a poor idea mixed with a bog standard PC design, maybe you like it so much because it is different, but most folk will take a realistic look and see it for what it is and opt for a much higher spec PC or Laptop at half the cost.

I guess 'apps' caused an allergic shock so that you didn't read any further

Well thats very interesting to know that it is possible to play Amiga classic games on the Sam.
I would be more inclined to purchase one if the price tag was a bit lower.

yep saimo (Simone) is the man behind the great new game BOH as well

There is also RunInUAE which also allows 68k stuff to run transparantly under OS4.1 u2 though I find it to be abit lacking running AGA games compared to glUAE
