The TURRAN FTP (The Ultimate Retro Repository for Amiga Nuts) is available here:

While we strongly recommend using the FTP, we do have a few options for people who only wants to download a limited amount of files.

Please note that the "Donate" link at the top of this page goes to running this forum and not the FTP specifically.

The TURRAN FTP is in no way affiliated with EAB (English Amiga Board). Our interests are just aligned. If you have complaints as a copyright owner from any of its contents, contact Turran on this forum.

Anonymous access

The anonymous "ftp" account is restricted to 5 concurrent logins with no speed limits. If its full, try the mirror. Be aware that there are some rules that will ban you from the FTP for a number of hours/days if you download to much.
I will not provide the algorithm for this as there are a number of exceptions and the ban time varies depending on various factors. Just know that if you use the anonymous account, you can not just leech the whole FTP at once.

Upload access

Why register your own account on the TURRAN FTP when the "ftp" account works just as well? There are a few reasons.
The "ftp" account has a limit on concurrent logins (1) and might ban you for a few hours/days if you stay on for to long/download to much.

Your own registered account does not have any bans based on time/download, is limited to 2 concurrent logins and is required if you want to upload.

To create your own account, you must be a member of the EAB Forums here, have at least 50 posts to your name and your last post can be no older than 5 days.
If you only just arrived to EAB with nice things to upload but do not yet have the posts to create an FTP account, let Turran know and I'll add you manually.

Be sure to read the upload rules presented here! Continuing will constitute you understanding and accepting them.
Select "I am a member at: English Amiga Board (EAB)"
Take note that the mirror is synced every few minutes. If you create your user on ftp, it will take a while before you can log on to ftp2 and vice versa.


When you see this, you have entered everything correctly.

200 User (<your name>) successfully added.

Once created, you can log in with your selected username and password.
To upload, log on to ftp2.grandis.nu and create a folder in ~Uploads with the same name as your username. Notice that it is case sensitive.
Uploads at ftp.grandis.nu are not possible at the moment as data is synced from ftp2.grandis.nu -> ftp.grandis.nu

Please note though, that certain criteria to register your own account for uploads are applied:

1. You must have at least 50 posts on your EAB account.
2. Your last post must not be older than 5 days ago.
3. Once your account is created, you need to login / use it within 7 days. This is to verify your account and you only have to login once, not every 7 days.

General information

To login to the "TURRAN File Server" you can use your favorite FTP client. Filezilla is recommended unless you have your own preference.
Web browsers have generally stopped supporting FTP.

Also, make sure to set maximum simultaneous transfers to 1 for the anonymous "ftp" account or 2 if you have your own registered account. Either do this in the Site Manager for the TURRAN FTP or globally:
To reduce the number of simultaneous transfers, open the application -> Edit -> Settings -> Transfers. There you will see a field called Maximum simultaneous transfers - change the value to 1 and click on OK to save the changes.

1. Changed search at https://grandis.nu/turransearch a little.
   
2. If it finds a directory, it was previously not clickable. Now it will go to https://grandis.nu/FTP and display the contents of that folder if you click on it.
3. If you were using https, it previously went to http when you downloaded a file. It will now stay with https or http, depending on which you're using at the moment.
4. Changed the colors of the results when searching. Not sure if I like it yet..
5. The information on your download limit when searching was moved to a header "box" to look the same as when browsing, to make it more consistent.
6. In the results page, when it finds a file, the size of the file in () is now a link to go to the folder the file is in. Requires HTTP Links to be enabled on the main search page of course. So clicking on the file will download it directly. Clicking the "(displayed size)" takes you to the directory it was found in.

2022-04-22

1. Publically opened https://grandis.nu/turran/FTP to allow anyone to download over HTTP/HTTPS instead of using FTP.

1. Started removing links to google drive. It will stop working soon as Google are migrating the GSuite Enterprise (with unlimited drive space) so that the "unlimited" part is removed and, to be honest, the only reason I had the google drive offsite backup is because it was basically free (well, I still payed for it, but I have other things there as well).

1. At https://grandis.nu/turranuser you can see a new button called "Check download stats on files downloaded from my upload dir".
   Clicking it will start calculating how many downloads each file in your uploads folder have and rank them in a list.
   This takes a minute or so to process, so feel free to refresh until the data is there. You can also leave the page and click the button again in a little while to get the result from the last query.
   Calculations will only be done for downloads in the last 2 full years. Clicking it today will show downloads from 2021-01-01 until now, for example.
   It will only calculate this once every 24 hours at max. Clicking the button again before that will show the cached data.

2022-02-19
Some changes to https://grandis.nu/turransearch

1. When HTTP links are enabled, it will not make directories and files it can't find for some reason as clickable for direct download.
2. It will also show the size of the file on direct download links.
3. Files over 700MB will no longer be clickable for direct download. It will instead link to Google drive.

2021-12-01

1. Anonymous "ftp" user once again see all TOSEC and other folders. Leaving it this way without restrictions over Christmas at least.

1. Anonymous "ftp" user no longer have access to the TOSEC folders, Non Amiga or TheZone folders on the FTP. Still available from google drive though.

1. All links changed from "eab" to "turran", so https://grandis.nu/turransearch is the new URL. Old ones still work as to not break existing links floating around (for now).

1. Registered users not having a 50Gb/week download limit is now permanent.
2. The anonymous ftp account no longer have a speed limit but a slightly harder punishment if you try to download to much.
3. Listing latest uploaded files at the various locations at https://grandis.nu/eab should now be a lot(!!) faster.

Before everyone had the power to upload (and delete?) files, now only the most trusted can (no offence, lol) under certain restrictions of the EAB FTP Police

Even if released for free, a software can still be copyrighted. Don't confuse legal terms. Copyright is a broad term that includes intellectuial property, distribution, reproduction and many other rights. I'd say all of the stuff available at the FTP is copyrighted!

You explained pretty well what can't be uploaded, the other -still copyrighted- material is OK. It's not like any of the once commercially available games are now public domain (like abandonware alleges).
