And this Blaze handheld runs in emulation. The sound is even worser.

actually, what does it run in

it could well just be a whole bunch of cores stuck onto a tiny black blob it might well be accurate implementation of actual hardware.

it'd be tempting to see if it could be hacked into an ersatz nomad.

Wasn't there some megadrive handheld plug into the tv things a while back that were hackable in this manner a year or so ago? I'm sure I saw such things in argos.

Looks quite familiar doesn't it? It's a nice toy, but not a portable console and quite expensive.

Trust me this is a cheap toy! A mate of mine got it from playasia.com

The megadrive logo is just a sticker, the controllers are cheap and nasty and it has poor quality sound! The picture is not too great but my mate is using a component AV cable.... not even too sure if this supports RGB? will check it out.

The good news.....it does play original megadrive games including imports!

Im pretty sure it's this one as it looks the same?

Edit: No it does not support RGB but im sure it can be hacked

I would mod my Mega Drive I for multi-region and 50Hz/60Hz instead.

It is extremely easy to mod a mk1 megadrive My Jap megadrive has got a switch for 50/60hz and a switch for US/UK/Jap regions

I left my UK Pal megadrive alone as it was one of the first in the UK and i want to leave it as it is

I use my Dreamcast with GenesisPlusDC, a new Gens4all Beta follows the next weeks. The X-Box is great for emulation, but i have too many other consoles/computers here in use.

How many xboxes you have? I remember you saying something about "xbox in every room in my house."

Lastnight I got the Megadrive emulator working for my Wii, and tried a few games out. I'd never really seen many games on the Megadrive before, so it was interesting to see how they compared to the Amiga.

The sound is definitely weaker! And takes the edge off quite a few games. Some titles seem quite competitive with the Amiga on graphics i.e. Speedball II and Marble Madness. But quite a lot of other have strange graphics that look a bit "dirty". Pacmania is the worst, the colour palette is really bad. I was surprised to see Sword of Sodan on the Megadrive, but it was poor compared to the Amiga version.

Sonic is impressive though, I have to say.

The Mega Drive has more impressive games. Don't check the Amiga ported games. Have a look at this stuff:

The Revenge of Shinobi
Thunder Force III+IV
Contra Hard Corps
The most Disney platformer like Aladdin or Quackshot
EA/NHL Hockey
Streets of Rage 2
Wonder Boy V
.
