Yes the Hugo games had really good scaling Sega style.

Not sure about some of the others, Space Harrier is OK but should have been arcade perfect really. Big Run was very choppy as was Galaxy Force 2.

I was thinking about this today, and wondered if ANY AGA (ie stock 2mb chip only A1200) demos did a texture mapped road (and nothing else) as you would get on the road of something like Scream Rally on PC?

This would be interesting to see just how much CPU/AGA bandwidth that would take to do in a simple 8 colour texture of a road.

I'm sure you could offload a small amount to a copper list to stretch things vertically near the bottom (hey PS1 has polygon tearing but nobody complained about that on the road effect on Wipeout! lol).

Let me know if you know of such a routine

Never mind, I worked out how to do it myself on a stock A500+ machine and still have enough ooomph left for the rest of my game engine. Thanks for nothing.

Ever noticed that there are different forums here? Guess if you would just created a new thread here instead of putting an OT remark at the end of your post the response would have been different...

Space Hulk has an interesting 3D engine. I think it is freely not scrolling in Doom's sense. It's rather step wise "pseudo scrolling".

There was a RTG patch for AB3D II. It made the game playable, but it was imo pretty boring. The first AB3D was more fun.

I always thought Speed did a great job:

However, I would rate AB3d as one of the worst games Team17 ever made.

Breathless ,Genetic species ( awsome looking games) they had options for scaling from 4x4, 2x2, and 1x1 pixel mode being the best basicly depending on your A1200 specs 1x1 was pretty impressive...Of course using emulation they tear along now

I had that one! (or one very much like it) from an AUI coverdisk. Don't recall it running in that small a window though? Ran very well on a stock A1200 too.

If you want a good tutorial on scaling with the blitter, I remember Captain Paranoia had a great tutorial published on one of the LSD diskmags (unfortunately cannot remember which one but it may have bee a christmas edition)

I've been really impressed by DOOM Attack for the classic Amiga. I never knew it till a couple of weeks ago, but the author added in support for Free Look and Jumping (which DOOM originally did not have.) Very nice port!
