I was just watching some youtube vids of some Amiga games and came across Jurassic Park AGA.

Haven't played that one, but the 3D sections there looked quite nice in the vids...

Have to give it a test..

and what about genetic species that played really well on a standard 1200

Brian the Lion (both AGA and non-AGA) had some interesting, 50fps rotation effects. Well, they weren't perfect rotations, as I recall. The rotated graphic expanded in size as rotation came closer to multiples of 45 degrees. Really clever though.

There was a mosaic/blocky effect used for some screen transitions. It didn't run at full speed, but it was fairly rapid.

I didn't play too far into the game, so there may have been scaling effects later on.

**EDIT**

Anyone mentioned Alien Breed 3D 2 yet? I remember it being stupidly slow. Some of the reasons were inefficient alignment of screen data and at least some of the game data residing in chip RAM. There was a patch (by someone in DC) which fixed most of these artificial slow-downs on the retail version. I patched the patch to work on the cracked version. It made it almost playable on my 030/50

Both the AB3D and AB3D2 source code were on the cover CD of Amiga Format number 95. Never seen anything made with the same engine, but would like to know if there is something out there.

i thought even just changing the sprites on it would have made it better or something like a call of duty/moh rip of.

But surely, by changing the sprites, you're not "making it better", you're just... changing the sprites

The whole cod/moh clones actually made me stop playing FPS' quite a while ago. Not sure we need yet another one tbh.

ok it would make it look beter cause i think some look a little cartoon like.

@thecyberdruid I guess we all have different tastes in games but i was just thinking a WWII type game on the amiga with a good graphics engine would be good

Actually some of the c2p routines for the Amiga ports of Doom were really fast, faster than AB3d2, on my Apollo 1240 40 mhz.

as far as amiga-only games, the best looking-speed combination I found was Nemac IV.

Space Harrier (I&II) and Galaxy Force II had nice scaling engines too. Virtual Karting on AGA had some clever techniques as well.

was AB3d ever updated to a HI res version at any point of its life

a resolution of 1*1 would make that game look much better

Yes, that's his point.

I too would love a higher res version of AB3D...I can but dream.
