Legend Of Valour impressed me a lot. it was prolly also the first exemple of this kind of engine i saw.
Ambermoon is good too, and Alien Breed 3D.

I found only a link to a video of the PC version of Legends of Valour here

[ Show youtube player ]

I'll have a look for Ambermoon now. If only UAE had a built in 'to AVI' option like VICE does I would do vids myself and stick them on youtube

Edit: Ambermoon has different entries but one just looks like Zelda game and the other like a Golden Axe rip-off. Can't see any 3D or sprite scaling in either type on the vids.

It has Look at the 'Output' window. Should be quite self explanatory

The Amiga version had actually a better rendering engine. In the amiga version you can see outside the window (and into the houses from the outside)...

See the screenshot...

AFAIK there's no realtime scaling done during Lotus gameplay at all, it was all pre-scaled. Or am I wrong?

You are right... all the graphics are pre-scaled in memory... confirmed with GfxRip :

When I say sprite scaling I'm just talking about the kind of Sega Outrun/Afterburner type graphics that's all, they don't need to be scaled in realtime just displayed very fast and smooth and not requiring more than the usual 1mb for A500/1000 arcade games

Interesting you can see the graphics, how easy would it be to change them as I have a little spare time I could use to knock up some replacement graphics for a little test

I think Stardust and Super Stardust AGA use some kind of a streaming animation for the tunnel walls?

Is it possible that Bump'n'Burn is less smoother on CD32 than on A500? I noticed it today.

Cant be certain but i would guess that Driving force and Unreal didn't in fact use any sort of scaling.Rather the graphics used were the way they were for either keeping things fast or that memory just didn't allow for much in the way of detail for the hedge style 3d technique - essentially like Space Harrier then or indeed the other scaled looking Shock Wave

It would surely be asking just too much to achieve this on an A500 were it in actually true scaling

Yeah games like the Lotus series, Out Run etc just use pre scaled sprites. If you want to see real image zooming on the Amiga check out this zoomer on a stock Amiga 500:-

Full screen 5 bitplane zoomer @ 50HZ :0)

Glad Legends of Valour has popped up in there. Such an amazing atmosphere in it as well, surpassed by very few to this day.

Trick or Treat I remember that, sticking a piece of cardboard down the middle of the TV so I could play it with a mate and they wouldn't know where each other was. PD game as well afaik.

Breathless was pretty good on a decent spec'd Amiga.

testament was a fast 3D shooter.

Doom (Adoom) actually was faster than Breathless and AB3d 2-on my Apollo 68040, don't know about lesser CPU's

Testament is the fastest in an A1200 plain or with fast memory. You can play fullscreen and correct textures.Pity the game doesn't use side movement and CD32pad support.
