Choices - Indivision with Pal or NTSC A1200

Hi all,

is there any benefits between using either a Pal or NTSC A1200 with the indivision (assuming your monitor can correctly display the VGA input ?

Will NTSC and Pal games display correctly on the monitor (centred) and showing the full picture.

Does the A1200 need to bestarted in either Pal/NTSC mode in order to get the desired results ?

Thanks

Not if you are using WHDload. Even on a NTSC Amiga, it's just a matter of edit every game icon and the "PAL" tooltype on it.

Or add the PAL tooltype in the global WHDload prefs.

I like native PAL machines, so I'd recommend that.
Sometimes I found no matter what tooltype I put in WHDLoad, some games don't work if I don't boot in the mode they need. Or just override my settings (you can't force NTSC on every game, for example)

I guess what he's asking is if the Indivsion will convert both the PAL and NTSC television signals to a common VGA signal in which case it doesn't matter if the game is running in PAL or NTSC.

His first question is if one is more recommended than the other
And the answer is simple: no. Choose whichever one you want. Indivision runs with both and converts both modes correctly!

Yet another reason I love my Indivision.

I settled for the Pal motherboard with the Indivision. it seems that there are more native Pal games (WHDload/floppies) available than NTSC so why not use the same board i am assuming the Indivision was basically built and tested on. The display is awesome on my Samsung T245.

One bad thing is the HP chip Lisa, it does not give a definate snap when fitted and twice it has popped. I'm in the process of finding some double sided sticky spongy tape to try to keep it down.

What are other people using who have this problem ?

This issue has been well documented, see this thread for more details.

Hi there,

yup, it was actually pre-sanded when i got it, (a week ago) it has been sanded almost down to the pins and it still pops off, so it isnt a 100% fix. Thats why i'm curious to see what other people are doing, whether glueing or some other mens to prevent the popoffs

I've actually used super-glue to hold mine down but that was only because it had become a bit loose (caused by repeatedly taking it on and off which seems to push the pins back a little). The first one that I fitted to a different MB stayed put with just a bit of silicon at a couple of fixing points.
