EAB/Lemon Super League 2009: Round 3 - Deluxe Galaga

EAB/Lemon Super League 2009: Round 3 - Deluxe Galaga

Starts: 00:01 March 1
Finishes: 23:59 March 21

Rules

Post screenshots of your scores in this thread, and write your score underneath. You can enter as many times as you like within the round's time frame.

No cheating of any kind (including score leeching) - this includes save states. No continues allowed either. If you suspect a contestant of cheating then don't post it in public (anyone who does so will have their posts edited or deleted) - please PM me, Biscuit or mihcael and we will investigate it. If we find anyone guilty of cheating then they will be banned for the entire season.

Please only post your score on either the EAB or Lemon forums. If you have already played this year you have to post your score on the same forum for the whole season. If you are new, the one you post on first will be your "team" for the whole season. However you are welcome to discuss the compo, game etc. on the other forum if you wish.

You must use the latest version of Deluxe Galaga AGA (v2.6, full version) - links below.

You
must have these options set in your config:

Quote:
Money bonus in meteorstorm_______________[YES]
Money limit______________________________[UNLIMITED]
Level limit______________________________[UNLIMITED]
Ship Armour______________________________[YES, PLEASE!]
Cash Sucker______________________________[YES]
Also Normal difficulty must be selected, and no autofire allowed as it is a power-up in the game.

Remember, anyone can join in at any time. Have fun and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Graham i'm a bit baffled over here. It's Deluxe Galaga or Super Obliteration for Round 3? Surely must have missed something on some thread.

EDIT: A tie? Can we play either of the games and count for the points, or must we play both games?

Oh and forgot to mention - you need to play it on Normal difficulty, and no autofire allowed as there is a power-up for it in the game.

Thanks guys... it's certainly not unbeatable though. In fact I've got further than level 189 before so I'm a bit disappointed but I'd been playing for two and a quarter hours already

Be interesting to see if anyone can beat VermillioN's score (what happened to him anyway?) of 46 million from June 2007 when we played it in the old compo...

46 millions? In Deluxe Galaga?
You must have x5 all the time and get all the bonus rounds and meteor storms Now that will be an interesting round for sure

TCD you haven't been using continues have you? Just curious because it says "C0" in the top right-hand corner

Since the score gets counted further after you continue... Now I've read the first post carefully M'kay, both scores flushed down the drain Okay I'll have a new 'not using continues' go in some minutes then

Umm...shouldn't it read "C4" instead of "C2"? CHEATER! You're all a bunch of cheaters! Ban them all!

edit: Ah, I must've confused this with Contra III... It's all good then!

Works fine with A4000-configuration (68040) in WinUAE. Maybe you have JIT enabled? If yes, you should deactivate it.

I didn't see his post but is it the library error? or another error? I just switch it to what john says. Although, i do not use 68040. I may try that.

Thanks John, it was really the problem! Without JIT 100% working.

We had a conversation about using continues and "C0" thing two years ago in Galaga. I see nothing wrong with it. Check this post.

I think the most upsetting thing about this game is when perhaps money isnt going your way, but then you get a meteor storm pickup. You collect 1000. Next level you're about to finish it and that stupid big green ship that sucks your money away comes. Ok, no problem, that really sucks though. Now you're all down and shit but wait, another meteor storm pickup! woo hoo another 1000. Next level, doing great, oh look another money stealer ship. Yay, another 1k gone. Oh yes, warp and wait, whats that? Oh i have 0 credit for the store. Hooray.

Money sucker can be killed (and pays you back with his stolen money) as well as this green ship that fires laser beam.

44,056,870. This will be my last game. I was going strong and picked up the wrong power-up by accident. After that the bottom started to bloat. And what do you know? The money sucker ship comes and steals my shit. And since my weapon is now a pea-shooter it absorbed all of it. 3 hours pretty much wasted. Oh well, still a really fun game.

this is true. Can someone refresh my memory on how hiscores are saved in the lha file for galaga. If i finish a game and enter my initials it should save right? I remember coming back to my PC and seeing the tutorial on galaga(left winuae open). But now today my 44million is not present. Although the 2.3m is there.
