Personally I want A.(st)inc to keep going & to attract (just) enough money to keep the announcements going...
...the antics of our 'leader(s)' have no bearing on the Amiga community @ large, but over the years have been a regular source of amusement to me.
Who else thinks 'Big Bill' & his antics have a striking similarity to the Retarded Policeman vids on YouTube?

On a slightly more serious front what would happen the remaining IP + secondary licences should A.(st)inc finally fold?
AFAIA: Gateway sold licences to A.(st)inc for the IP but kept the ultimate rights...
...If A.(st)inc fold the whole lot goes back to Gateway - or whomever now owns them. Not only could the licences sink without a trace (tricky) but material dependant on sub-licences could end right up do-do creek.

Just call me 'Mr Doomey'

So it's actually 3 companies then, that have various parts of Amiga? Amiga Inc. ( logo and brand), Hyperion (OS), and Gateway. ( hardware and chips)

Is Gateway the ones that set up the new Commodore that is making those gamer-PC's?

Gateway -> Amino Development -> Amiga Inc.
So they own pretty much everything (I think even the OS).

Amiga is not only a machine, its a concept, an idea, probably the symbol of our rebel youth, anyone could have a PC but only a few would dare to tangle with Amiga, only a few searched for a computer that could provide that unique sence of awe.
Amiga was forged in the dark age of computer industry, PC´s were sluggish and uninteresting, the best demo there was to PC was the plasma effect.
Imho, Amiga market focused too much in the Games, there´s a huge collection of Demos, Mods and PixelArt that could be well part of an Art museum. In fact it would be great if most demos could be converted to Java (or something) to be available to future generations.

Laugh all you can my fried KG, but is precisely because of people like you that i enjoy Amiga more today that i used to back in the "good´ol days". Your collections of Whdinstalls and your contribution to this community is unquestionable.
When i was a kid i dreamed of having a Hard Drive in my A500, and now i have a A1200 with a 40 gb HD, and i can actually run games from the HD, and thats imho is the reason why many of us bought pc´s anyway.

Are you serious? relax friend!

The demoscene was and still is extremely interesting and cool but didn't generate in Amiga, and the laying grounds behind it are platform-independent... As for the rest... Amiga is a computer, not a "state of mind"... that's when zealotry starts! Just enjoy it very much but don't make it a "religion", it's not healthy.

Where is the Amiga demoscene today, by the way? No where. But look at the thriving C64 and Soectruym demoscenes. A lesson to be learned there.
I wish there were more prods and groups for Amiga but there aren't. Up Rough are always tops, you have almost one yearly TBL demo, and then RNO, but come on, can't we have a bit more? The machine doesn't generate as much interest anymore and I think a lot of it is because of all this Amiga coming back like jesuschrist situiations pushing people away and laughing at the sole sight of the word "Amiga". Becayuse that's what happens.

"Commodore 64"
- Cool!

"Amiga"
- lol

:P

Here's what I have to say about Amiga Inc. The website has broken images and links. They have an "open letter to the amiga community" on their homepage, within which they basically sling mud about, talk about legal problems with their software and go to great lengths defend themsevles against public criticism.

I don't know anything about Amiga Inc, but their website just taught me everything I need to know. Mickey Mouse.

Amiga is a religion though - and it's a healthy one.

Amiga churches are in the secret pubs - Heimdall 2 pub to be precise with ale, swedish viking women and axe throwing

Anyway, Amiga. Inc... what is there to say? Commodore-Amiga is the real deal... and they died in 1994...
