Free ATAPI.device?

Hello again, I am wondering if there is any decent freeware atapi.device drivers available anywhere? Currently i am using the one from unregistered idefix97 and as most of you are no doubt aware it has an annoying nagg screen.

If there is not one for free which is the best, cheapest and most easily available option to purchase?

thanks for any advice.

It depends on what you use it for.

Atapi.device can be used to

- access CD drives on the second channel of a 4-way splitter
- access CD drives on the IDE bus in general

If you use it for the former, there is no replacement. You could buy the full version to remove the nag requesters.

For the latter you can use the software from here: http://os.amigaworld.de/index.php?lang=de&page=37
with the instruction from here (German only): http://home.arcor.de/micky.d/IDE.html

AmiCDFS is not a replacement for atapi.device, it only replaces CacheCDFS. You need atapi.device in addition if your CD drive is connected to the IDE bus because otherwise it is not recognised.

If you have a Power Computing buffered IDE you can get rid of the NAG screen
