MegaDrive Model 2 and broken joypad ports?

I tried with joypad for Master System and joystick for Amiga - no response. How can I fix it?

Check the joystick cable, it probably is broken.

Also check if the Amiga port is OK.

Get your multimeter and buzz out the connections from ports to controlling IC. If they trace ok then it could be something more serious.

I'm not familair with Megadrive2 - more MD1. But maybe it has some type of fuse? The SNES has a fuse that when blown will stop the pads from working. Work a look maybe?

I would check the pins on the controller ports, they are identical to the amiga ports and ive had a couple break on me in the past (damn those inferior joysticks with short leads!)

Sometimes when the pins break they dont always fall out, they could still stay in the port but would be a bit loose. I would get a small pair of tweezers and *very* gently push or pull each pin and see if any slide in/out.

The dreamcast had an inline resistor which acted as a fuse, this quite often blew when the controllers were removed when the power was on....could be the same for the megadrive?

I bought today second MegaDrive with joypad from flea market. In previous console controller ports weren't broken, my MegaDrive II needed MegaDrive joypad to response, that's all.
