Ok... however that gives massive files... but I'll fiddle with some different codecs. Thanks.

Well, you can upload up to a gig on Youtube so the files won't be too big for that (if you have that 10 minute limitation like I do).

Try x264. It'll take longer to encode but should be higher quality and possibly smaller unless you go mad on the quality settings.

I tried x264 at highest quality, and also mpeg4 at highest quality... but a 2 minute video that was about 30 mb with TSCC (lossless) became over 300 mb... what resolution do you resize the video to?

Just a heretical question laffer Do you really play these longplays in one go? Very well played mate and of course watching it in HD is simply cool

That depends. I don't always play them in one go.

Here is what I usually do -
I use a lot of savestates to practice playing the game before I start recording.
I do the parts I find hard until I've got them down.
Of course this is a kind of cheating.

But when I record, I try not to use savestates or to use very few.
For instance, in the Agony longplay, I used two savestates. One at the very start of the first level (so I would not have to wait to start over), and one after the third.
The first three levels are very easy and I did not have the patience to do those over if I died in any of the three last levels of the game.

Also, if the games are very long (adventure games etc), I sometimes use savestates because I don't have time to play for hours without taking breaks.

Here is a longplay I just recorded of Project X Special Edition (in HD) -

Still this is really impressive, since you only lost a few (2?) lives in the Agony longplay
I've just watched the first two levels of Project X and again both the quality and the way you play it make it a very good longplay Keep it up laffer

I'd like to record the Sega CD version, but I can't figure out how to get enough coins to pay the snail... you get the same amount of money as in the Amiga version, but you have to PAY for the beer in the Sega CD version... so I always have too little left to pay the snail, and the game is impossible.

If someone could point out how this is supposed to be done, I'd record it right away.

Ah Agony, now there was a game that would have been great in AGA graphics, it always felt limited in its palette.
