Qwaky News!

Not sure if this counts or not, it's Amiga related, kinda..

My name is Jamie Woodhouse. I developed a number of Amiga classics, notably Nitro, ATR and Qwak. I've recently developed a PC version of Qwak, very much inspired by the Amiga version.

Anyhoo, if the person reading this deems this to be newsworthy ... I'd be happy to provide more detail.

PC Qwak is here: www.qwak.co.uk

Cheers,
Jamie.

Thanks for the welcome bippym.

There's nothing I would love more than to do a modern version of Nitro on PC ... vroom!

Not so sure it would sell though!

It's quite an active board here then?

Cheers,
Jamie.

Yeah this board is very active and there are a lot of peeps here, you should have a look around and check out some old posts etc

If you are easily offended I'd avoid the off-topic sections, but if you are up for a laugh and don't mind the piss being taken a little head on in there

The SPS guys, Toni Wilen (Winuae dev). Old crackers, and some old developers

If you wanna have a go with Nitro I'll definately buy a copy update the gfx a little bit, but keep the atmosphere awesome

If you need them, I did some maps for your racing games:

Nitro: http://hol.abime.net/986/gamemap
ATR: http://hol.abime.net/3337/gamemap

The last Nitro map is disappointingly a duplicate of an earlier one, though!

Hahah .. excellent Cody.

I'm guessing you actually hacked the game and re-constructed the game maps from map and tile data? Cos the night-time levels ... look all day-time (you can see them).

Jamie.

ATR was a little too hard for most people me thinks!

Is that the general concensus, Nitro better than ATR?

I just prefer the atmosphere you managed to create with Nitro, and the night time effect was fantastic at the time

I remember playing with friends and the stallone, Moore and Eastwood characters were cool

It is one of the few games I play today, and I have 3 boxed copies

Yes, exactly!

It does give a whole new perspective on Amiga games and the overall design that does into each level.

there's some crazy Polish guys who are still obsessed with ATR, even playing it online against each other with winuae-kaillera.

I too prefer Nitro though.

I probably spent more time playing multiplayer Nitro than any other game on the Amiga. I was so into it, I sent some drawings off to psygnosis who very kindly sent the me (an idiot kid) a free poster.

I liked ATR as well but it lacked a non linkup two player mode (probably because it was super quick).

I would pay for a GBA/DS version of nitro or ATR if you are thinking about it?
