Heh. I had an Amiga 500 (expanded to 1MB) back when and a friend had an Atari 1040 ST in 1990. Sound was definitely way better on the Amiga than the ST.

The Atari ST didn't have that, as you say cheap looking rainbow effect, and looked much better as a result.

BTW the ST has an inbuilt speaker, and doesn't need no stinkin' scan doubler to hook up to a modern LCD monitor.

But on the downside, does use the unfortunatly named TOS OS.

My second favourite gaming platform is ST, good games and most of them similar to Amiga versions. I don't understand wars between users.

I think you mean "LCD Television", as the ST only does PAL and NTSC. And guess what... The Amiga can handle those screenmodes just fine, and VGA, and more.

So therefore the Amiga also "doesn't need no stinkin' scan doubler to hook up to a modern LCD monitor."

Oh and a built-in speaker is a minus, not a plus!

Camp? I don't understand what you mean. If you mean "which side", then my answer was in my previous message and it couldn't be clearer.

Mmmm, figured... but wasn't sure ..... as "" is used often here in any situation... so it has lost its meaning

I actually had a 520STFM back in the day (I was too poor to buy an Amiga). It was a great little computer and we had a lot of fun playing Dungeon Master for hours and hours.

The STE was a lot better, but as hardly any games were coded for it the Amiga versions always looked a lot better.

I used to read the ST mags and I remember getting all excited about the super-duper Falcon which changed colours a few times, was down-spec'd and then finally released a second before Atari pulled out of the computer business

A few years back I was pretty excited when I picked up an ST520 in a salvage store for the sum of $2.50, including MIDI software. And then I switched it on... and then I was disappointed ...And right now it's probably back in that salvage store, via my local landfill.

Exclusive software (when it has good quality, though) is undoubted advantage:
