Yeah, you better hide punk Gods is an awesome game, but I wouldn't call it a real platformer

I hate Gods' adaptive difficulty. If you play well the game throws unfair enemy formations at you.

I downloaded James pond 3 and it is annoying to play I can't believe I used to play it so much. Why is there a poltergeist in a tv? Definately not a awesome platformer. You can rip all the gfx in AM mode in gfxr, so maybe use those with superfrog gfx?

Flimbo's Quest is a different and charming platformer, maybe not awesome.

Great game that one, very fast although does struggle slightly when the screen gets a bit full on a bog standard 500.

For me;

Magic Pockets
Super Putty (how could anyone forget this?!)
Tearaway Thomas (another fast one but very playable)
Beavers (cute, but cool)
Arabian Nights/Soccer Kid (same game engine, Arabian Nights wins for me though here)

Agreed. Gods is awesome but not what I'd call a real platformer.

While I don't agree that Superfrogs graphics are ugly, I do think they are bland and lacking in character. Like all Team 17 games.

My picks

The Newzealand Story
Rainbow Islands
Bubble Bobble
Prince of Persia

My picks:
  • Traps and Treasures
  • Zool 1 and 2
  • Brian the Lion
  • Torvak the Warrior
  • Oscar
  • Fire and Ice
There are loads more but I can't think at the minute. Oscar is nice and quirky and I think Torvak is a pretty cool game. Mine freezes after killing the 1st boss though
