Winuae Cheats

First I want to say that I couldn't find a proper place to add this thread, so feel free to change it if it was missplaced.

This is not a problem but a list of some cheats I found when playing with the trainer function from the debugger. All were made for the whdload games by killergorilla.

So basically for those who don't know you have to switch to a window (Ctrl+F12) and press Shift+F12 to bring up the debugger window, then all you have to do is just copy and paste, once you added all the codes needed just write g and press enter to play the game, don't forget Ctrl+F12 if you want to go back to fullscreen.

uhm... aren't the addresses in memory dependent on the configuration used? or even changing from session to session?
i know that they were, when i was using the action replay rom embedded in winuae.
maybe i am wrong...

btw, welcom to the board nevertheless

Ok, after read that I tested the superfrog codes with two diff configurations on two different pcs and they seem to work perfectly on both.

One thing I found out is that the 1.3.3 version of winuae has a bug when trying to freeze the value, couldn't make it work. Probably is a matter of the old debugger. I know the addresses are the same cuz I tested it with the lives and energy ones, if you try to freeze a value other than the original it will do nothing, if you try to freeze the original value it will be at zero. I made a search with deep trainer there and found the same addresses.

Then I did another test, the Adventures of quick silva code, that one was made lot of time ago, think like 8 months ago, and with a totally different configuration, and obviously an old winuae version, and it still works with the last official realease of winuae and this configuration I'm using now.

Depends on the game, if it's normal relocatable file then they most probably are, however, many games load to fixed addresses which means the addresses stay the same all the time.

And this is the reason for lack of "real" cheat system.

Cheat code strings need some kind of "signature" that is used to find the correct address. (perhaps simple length(s) + hash(es) work?)

(I am not interested in researching this but I am interested in implementing it)

thanks for clearing that up guys, it's interesting!

a question: when playing through whdload, the data is fixed in respect to the whd ambient but relocatable in respect of workbench, right?

Bumping an old thread. Is there a source of more winuae debugging cheats somewhere online. I test one from above and it works.
