Exclamation winuae.net - what to do when down

hello,

because of the obviously frequent downtimes on both of our
servers (usually due to unexpected power outages or reboots)
here a howto regarding the most frequently used (and missed)
hosted site - winuae.net

you can access the site in 3 ways, currently hosted by two
redundant servers - which obviously arent redundant enough:

http://www.winuae.net (currently fast main server)
http://winuae.back2roots.org (currently fast main server)
http://winuae.back2roots.dyndns.org (currently fallback server)

you can do the dyndns trick with any of our hosted sites
and subdomains to get an alternate server.

more servers will be added with a better redundancy check
this winter (ie automate dns change if a server fails)

sorry for the inconvenience (sorry toni - have just noticed it)

ralf

Thanks for the info Ralf
It will surely help when people search for the latest version of WinUAE, but the main URL is down. I think this should be made sticky

You will always find the latest WinUAE version on emulation news sites. No need for panic.

Do NOT panic, I repeat do NOT panic. In the event of WinUAE Defcon 1 being initiated (global WinUAE downtime) please carry out the following;

1) Do NOT panic - there are plently of other things to do.
2) Make love to a beautiful man/woman/mermaid/whatever floats your boat
3) Ping the WinUAE servers with the '-t' flag so that you will know when it's back on line.
4) Cry into your favourite pillow
5) Play on an older version of WinUAE - these work!
6) Post on EAB to other fellow WinUAE'ers and we will all act to help one another
7) Visit the house of Shoonay and play with his cat 'Spot' with a ball of wool.
8) Goto the gym and pump some iron
9) Goto a Van Halen concert
10) Read assembly language book 50 times over until you understand and can memorise all code

There are other things in life than playing Amiga games with WinUAE? You must be kidding
On a seroius note : It's funny how many results you get when you enter 'WinUAE download' in Google and the best thing about it most of them have the latest (or at least 1.5.1) version for download (like Retro said btw )
