Damage, F1 Key Not Responding

I have a WHDLoad install of Damage and everything appears to be working normal, but for whatever reason I can't hit the F1 key and start the game. F2 and F3 are working fine and the game is responding to the F1 on some level. It won't start the game when I press F1, but I can advance to the next screen of text by pressing F1. F1 actually works fine when I run it the disk way, but on WHDLoad it's just a no go. Thanks for any help!

Anyone? Can't I remap the key or is there something else I can press? This is really weird.

Hi toxee,

I just checked it here and it works fine. Maybe you have remapped a WHDLoad key to F1? Go to the 's' folder of your Workbench install and look in the file 'WHDLoad.prefs'. Is there a line where after the '=' $50 occurs? Also look in the tooltypes of the Damage slave for $50. If so change it to $59 (F10). I hope that fixes your problem.

Hey!

I don't see 50 anywhere, but I do see things like =5c 5d, 5b etc. Those mean anything related to my predicament?

Also, how do I view the damage slave file? It's all gibberish in notepad and when I try to open it in multiview nothing happens. Thanks alot for helping!

You are welcome.
I meant if you click on the icon for the game and select 'Informations..' in the Workbench menu you see the tooltypes for that game. Maybe there is something.

Yeah, I checked the slave file and it was normal. I guess it's just gonna be the disk version for this game I guess.

.........I'm wondering though, what are the recommended settings for this game and what rom should I have running. I wonder if something like that is messing me up. Do you or anyone else know of any sites they list all the recommended settings for various Amiga games?

If you are using WHDLoad the config shouldn't really matter. For WHDLoad you should set the 68020 CPU or better, Kickstart 3.1 and 2 MB Chipmem & 8 MB Fastmem (or more with Z3 Fastmem). Easiest way to do so would be to select a quickstart option for the A4000.
There is Gamebase Amiga which has many games preconfigured. Maybe you should try that. Other than that most site only give you the info if the game is OCS/ECS (A500 most of the time) or AGA (A1200/A4000). But maybe another user here knows where to get perconfigured UAE files on the net. If you want a particular one you can ask me, I have plenty of them

Yeah, I've also been using that A4000 preset to much success. I've been trying to get Barbarians I and II to run. I only get a black screen, you got a config or some settings tips for that? Again, thanks for the tips and software recommends, hours on google was never this helpful.

No problem toxee
You mean Barbarian I & II by Psygnosis right? (The other Barbarian is from Palace, check here)
Are you using the floppy or WHDLoad version? If you use the floppy version I can send you configs for both games when I get home in 6 hours or so.

I see now, I grabbed the Psygnosis version when I meant to grab the Palace one. I've been using the WHDLoad version for almost every game I have.
