WANTED: hardware and documentation

Hardware and documentation wanted for emulation improvement purposes and AROS m68k development (or something, as usual, improvements may happen years later..). Will pay but don't ask anything crazy or I will reply something more or less fun

April 4, 2012 update: List is getting shorter.

Hardware:

- A3000/A4000 Zorro/PCI bridge. (AROS m68k development and testing)

- A4000T. For built-in SCSI AROS testing, not that important anymore (at least I have an A4000 now)

- CD32 MPEG cartridge.

- A590 (+ GuruROM adapter [some issues with A590-style SCSI emulation])

- Freezer cartridges [more info in other threads..]

- Other A500 side expansion hardware (?)

"Got recently":

- A4000 [Big thanks to Arnljot for selling one and also loaning CSPPC for AROS m68k testing!]
- SupraTurbo 28
- GVP A530/8M
- Hurricane H530 and Apollo 520.
- External HD floppy drive (special 150RPM drive) [have XL and A3000 internal HD drive]
- A3000UX (2M+16M, "old" SuperBuster/DMAC/RAMSEY, updated SCSI chip) + tapedrive (thanks Tim!)
- A1000 [A1000 Agnus most likely has some undocumented differences](thanks Jope I really have this now)
- Blizzard 1230/1240/1260 SCSI-Kit IV (SCSI add-on) [replace current IDE CF with SCSI-IDE+CF for better performance] (from local auction site)
- External floppy drive with built-in track display
- Warp Engine 68040/40MHz
- Another CD32.. (has extra chip on CDROM controller PCB)
- PCMCIA SRAM Card (4M)
- All 3rd edition RKRMs
- A4091

"Always wanted but have already:"

- A500+ with 1MB trapdoor RAM expansion
- CD32 [1]
- CDTV #1, 2M chip [1], 8M fast, internal CDTV SCSI adapter + SCSI-IDE bridge + CF, 2-port joystick adapter.
- Supradrive 500XP
- A570

[1] donated by Cloanto.

"Don't need":

- CD32 HD expansions

Other Amiga hardware I already have:

- A500 (OCS and ECS. Someone should build Agnus-switcher ), main testing Amigas.
- A1200 + Blizzard 1260 + CF in IDE-port, AGA-testing Amiga.
- CDTV #2 ("spare") [available for swap/sale in future]
- AmiTrix SCSI-TV CDTV SCSI adapter (never used, came with another CDTV. CDTV #1 adapter is different model) [available for swap/sale in future]
- CDTV floppy drive

Do not attempt to hijack this thread

Floppy disk

Hi Toni, it's difficult to find the CL450 datasheet, but I did find the CL480 datasheet: http://www.datasheet4u.com/html/C/L/...Logic.pdf.html (Click on 'DataSheet View' to download the PDF file to your computer )
I quote "The one key difference between C-Cube's CL450 and CL480 is that the latter filters video during scaling. All else being equal, the CL480 will produce higher quality, full screen video." (Source: http://www.doceo.com/myweb2/articles/mpegbord.html)

I thought I said "Must be CL-450 datasheet"

CL450 is video decoder ONLY and only accept video data

CL480 also includes audio decoder and accepts full mpeg stream. (includes demultiplexer and also direct CD interface)

= CL-450 needs totally different input data than CL-480.

Hi Toni,

As the A4091 is pretty much implemented on the A4000T, would the A4000T schematics be useful to you for the scsi chip/rom connections and PCB layout stuff?

If so, I can upload them to the zone for you, although the scan quality is not great.

Regards

Rich

If you can see chip pin numbers.. I have A4000T schematics that are unreadable..

I believe I have the ROM Kernel Reference Manual: Libraries 3rd edition, let me go check, in the meantime; if I do have the manual, where do I send it?

I just found this: http://www-kryo.desy.de/documents/vx...10Lib.html#top it is the
NCR 53C710 SCSI I/O Processor Programming Guide, VxWorks Programmer's Guide: I/O System on-line. Not sure if that is what you need though.

If this external HD floppy drive is of any use I may be able to get it for you.
I also have a 1MB SRAM card set as RAM. I need to check it still works though.

I do have an C= A4091 and a PCMCIA SRAM card that I can lend. Neither is being used right now but I would like them back. Any idea on how long you'd need them?

I noticed. I guess all old documentation is completely gone by now except if some driver developer somewhere still have one..

1 month max I guess (depends how busy I am) but I'd prefer something I can accidentally destroy Non-working A4091 should be fine too (going to update first post)

Maybe CD32 V3 or V4 schematics helps, pinout of the expansion-slot is there, no schematics for MPEG cartridge itself though...

Thanks but I have CD32 schematics. I need schematics that shows chip connections on MPEG cart.

Hi,

I had asked in my forum for the datasheet of cl 450 (C-cube). Perhaps anybody knows a source for this oldie.

This IC was only mentioned in a patentent specification and also on a site which discussed some features of a VIA-chipset. But there where no further technical details on these sites.

Dear Toni,

I have an item you may be interested in, it is a Viper 520 CD, which I purchased from Power Computing in April 1998 for £99.95.

I fitted the unit to my A500 and for a certain amount of time it worked well, however during longer use I would keep getting Software Failure error messages. I suspected that this may of been due to it over heating. With this board in my Amiga I used to install the whole of "Secret of Monkey Island", and play it from the Ram Disk. I did not have a hard drive. Also "Frontier : Elite II" was highly impressive with this board in place.

Unfortunately the lead which holds the IC holder for the Amiga's ROM has broken off due to metal fatigue and needs re-soldering.

I would have told you I had this sooner, but I wanted to attach a photograph of it, but I cannot get access to a scanner, so am telling you any way.

The white lettering on the board reads:

520-33-CD
ALL RIGHTS RESERVED
[C] COPYRIGHT 1997
DCE COMPUTER SERVICE GMBH
design by Thomas Dellert
http://www.dcecom.de

The white label with the barcode reads:

VIPER 520 CD 8 MB
||||||||||||||||||||||
*0000000494*

I have the board, the IC holder with lead and the manual.

If you would like this off me, perhaps we can come to some arrangement.

I don't want money for it, but would like help aquiring certain things;

Amiga CD32 console with "Beneath a Steel Sky" & "Simon the Sorcerer"
Amiga CDTV with "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" & "Loom"

Also assistance in;

Transferring files from Windows to Amiga & Amiga to Windows on an a A1200 with hard disk (I have a USB to serial lead)
Converting tracks on Audio CD to an 8bit 44,100Hz Stereo .IFF sound sample
Reducing .IFF images to a user defined number of colours, with unused colours where I would like them in the palette

Best Wishes,

Robert.:

Hello

That would be perfect (as long as it is "only" overheating and some soldering needed). Missing 68030 or MMU won't matter, I only need A500 with fast CPU + RAM

I can also pay "full price" (whatever that is..) if there are no other options..

Do you mean you'd like to have CD32 and/or CDTV hardware or only game CDs? I guess you want original CDs, including manual(s)?

Don't have games but I do have 1 CDTV and CD32 I don't really need. (I have 2xCDTV and 2xCD32 currently..) Unfortunately CDTV is quite heavy...

Cloanto's Amiga Explorer is probably best when using serial cables. (I am quite sure Cloanto will send it for free when/if I'll get the accelerator )

Faster option is to connect the A1200 HD to Windows PC IDE controller (or IDE-USB adapter but that usually won't work if the drive is "too old")

Dear Toni,

I would prefer to communicate with you privately, not on the forum. I emailed you on twillen@winuae.net but recieved a message failed notification from microsoft.
Do you have an alternative email address, that you could use? Once I hear from you in my private email account hopefully we can get down to a swap!
You should have my email address as I entered it when joining the forum.

Best wishes,

Robert.

Toni, do you still need the A500 acc-card? I've got (albeit in Norway) an A5000 cad, which is a 020/16.66MHz card with 4MB fast plugs into the 68k socket. Unfortunatley, a couple of the pins have broken on the 68k socket connector thingie, but should be in working order still, once those pins are "back in operation"

Yes, as long as it disappears from original post

Hmm.. This accelerator's PCB looks huge, hopefully it does not make logic analyzer probe setup too difficult.

Fixing the socket shouldn't be too difficult (I hope..)

Send email/pm if you want money or Amiga hardware (extra stuff listed in original post, do not select something too heavy please )

(previous offer didn't happen, thanks for the offer anyway)

Toni, do you know the brand of this external HD floppy drive which is 150rpm? I have a few (3?) of them, but somehow doubt they are 150rpm. I can list the models if you want (need to go look for them). Couldn't you just hook up a Chinon internal 1.76MB to an external connector also changing its DSx jumper (for df1: etc) if needed?

Internal is fine as long as it is Amiga compatible HD drive

I have a standard internal Amiga HD Floppy drive, the Chinon FZ-357A, that you can have/borrow, or whatever you need.
The drive is brand new, only the plastic eject button is missing. Let me know if it can be of any use to you.
