One of the FTP clients for the PC had a filter that will tell you if a file name is too long for FATx

Guys,

Really getting the XBOX Modded bug now!! (Thanks alot Zetro!!!!! Top Man!!!)

One question i do have is to really to do with Amiga SYS 3 on the XBOX.

How can you get it to see the DVD drive as a CD Drive in Workbench or to use a Memory Stick as a external drive???

Looking to transfer my WHD Lovelyness onto the two HD Partitions i have created.

And one last point Modded XBOX's rule!!!

Just FTP your WinUAE HDF files over, thats what I did & now I'm even running Classic Workbench & all my WHD software on my XBox too

No Probs

If you have WinUAE running on your PC with HDF files you can transfer the hdf files to the diskimages folder on WinuaeX as follows.

Connect your Xbox to your Router & Start XBMC
Check the IP address given to your Xbox by the Routers DHCP (settings)

Using Your XP PC create a network place using ftp://192.168.xxx.xxx
logon using xbox & password xbox (all lowercase).
The window should now display all your Xbox drives as folders. copy & paste your HDF(s) to the right place & thats it. you can also transfer adfs etc. or indeed any other files to your Xbox as you wish.

Run WinuaeX & setup a suitable config using your HDF ...

Bit of trial & error but you will get there.

Let us know how you get on

TC

Do people purely rely on just FTP all the time? i commit all my stuff to dvd

I guess i'm worried in case and for whatever reason i can't send files over in some 10 or so years.I like to think i'll still be using my xbox then which is why i got so many, and the idea of not having all this stuff would bother me.I could of course just install emu's etc on all xboxes

Are people only thinking of their short term enjoyment or is it obvious FTP will simply always be possible no matter how many years into the future? Just curious

Send a message via MSN to cosmicfrog
FTP -> file transfer protocol , been round for years will be round for more years to come
as i think it a ethernet/network standard well something like that.

both my xboxs work as far as i can tell just the lead on the controler has a break in it somewhere, abit of cut and shunt and that will be sorted

Presumably Alex knows what dash and script you're talking about since you don't say what they are, but if it's XBMC and you know where the script is putting the trainer (etm/xbtf) files then just follow the instructions on the wiki.

@Adropac2: I'm not one for predicting the future but it seems pretty certain that FTP will still be around long after your DVDRs have become unreadable from dye failure.

For most things I use SAMBA. All the files live on the network and the Xbox browses the network and loads what it needs to.

Xbox games you have to FTP as they cannot be run over the network.

It is obvious. And as already said a medium quality DVD-R has average lifespan of less than 10 years!

Alexh oddbOd, that's pretty bad life expectancy wow

What if dvd's are stored in darkness say in a metal case and rarely if ever used?

I thought it was around 20 years and i suppose there are also exceptions

Hooray for FTP then

Now, that's girly talk... Please stop it.

My original xBox HD is in safe place, so should work later. I might spin it off once in a while, the same as my neighbor does with his classic car.

Back to game trainers.

Here is a link for 3800+ xBox game trainers. Would it be enough just to copy this into trainer folder??

I've got some that have never been out of the case in 10 years (archived in 1998 when I was at Argonaut) opened them recently... all BLACK

Admittedly dye technology has come a long way since then.

Yes, you can leave all the trainers packed in a zip/rar that's exactly how mine are stored and it works perfectly, just run Update Trainer List once you've copied it over and you should be good to go.

I doubt you did. Although I worked with the creators of BoP & DoT we never talked about them. Mainly StarFox, Starglider and Croc. I was of course in the hardware department (which earlier created SuperFX)

Birds of Prey was shown in a much more ambitous state once maybe even twice in one of the magazines and way before it got released.Looking back it was clearly beyond what an A500 or even A1200 could do back then.Lol i'm pretty sure it wasn't a dream as i followed the game fairly religiously buying any mag that featured any info on it

Where is Jez now do you know?

He sold his interest in his games companies and hardware companies and founded Crunchy Frog. An online poker company.

The floatation of his two companies (ARC and ASL) in 2000 must have made him more money than he could spend in a lifetime. He was already a multi-millionaire then and he probably made 20% of the several hundred million each made during the float.

Dunno how much he lost though when ASL went under several years later. He was shrewd though, I doubt it was his money that was lost.
