@PeterK,
Yep, works fine from inside a ROM. Feels even quicker than your IconBeFast version.

On a similar topic,
According to http://aminet.net/package/gfx/misc/TestDTAlpha some versions of picture.datatype v44/45 don't support alpha channels.
Does anyone know what versions work and what doesnt?
Maybe it might be worth putting a version check in the BB3 installer to test for the buggered ones ?

I only tested it quickly with '020/'881. I haven't got a setup for testing 3.x stuff under 68000 at the moment.. maybe if time off over Xmas allows.

Picture.datatype on AmigaOS3.9 is a resource pig. From what i remember it is fat binary, meaning it directly supports PPC and 68k. Have you ever seen how fast a 3.9 system gets when it is removed? And how much memory you save on that process? I just hope someone could take the time to find out a faster one wich does support all the features, and if not it would be even better if someone attempted developing a new one to replace that snail.

TBH, it doesn't get used much on my Amigas so I haven't really noticed.

Just for sh*ts and giggles, I had a quick look at pic.dt 45.7.. yuck, looks like they didn't even turn on optimisations in the compiler! (StormC.. nuff said)
I also managed to rip out the PPC stuff, got it down from 81Kb to 52Kb

.. but now I'm well and truely off topic!

Not so much off topic, i think. Could it be possible that you optimized a little for 020+ the picture.datatype that you removed the PPC stuff? It could definately then be worth for inclusion in BoingBag 3.

@ALL
AmigaOs BoingBag 3 website updated again:

-Due to popular demand, files are no longer on sharebee, they are hosted at the website
-Updated narrator.device (it is inside the Say archive)
-Added reqtools.library 39.3 (updates the one present in MooVid)
-Added two 3.9 bug entries
-Updated the credits section a bit

Of course you are encouraged to visit the BoingBag 3 website at http://lilliput.host-cafe.com

@ gulliver & Doobrey
Many thanks to you for testing the icon.library 46.4a110 from ROM.

@ Cosmos
I'm sorry, but my icon.library is always optimized for 68020+. Please read the older posts in this thread about v45.5 and v45.5.5 which are compiled for the 68000 CPU.

For all of you who like testing new versions, here comes the latest build now:

I will test this new version and get back to you. Thanks!

@Cosmos
For AmigaOS 3.9 68000 compatibility you should contact user kolla. He has had some success.

What means "Not working", what happens??
Do you get Guru-Meditations? Which alert numbers?
Or are some icon images missing on the workbench or what else goes wrong?

You are trying to use BB3 on an A600 with 68000 CPU? Of course this will not work and isn't expected to. OS3.5 and 3.9 require a 68020 or better. This is not a bug. Making 68000 versions of everything really just punishes most users.

@ Cosmos & Kolla

Finally, I decided to write a special icon.library v45.1.7 for 68000 CPUs and I also made a minimal system which demonstrates how to use GlowIcons on OS 3.1 with 68000. I hope it solves your problems. I've tested it with Kickstart 40.63(A600) and WB 45.127 on WinUAE and it works.

workbench.library 40.5 + icon.library 45.1.7 in eprom = guru #8000000B

>Do you really believe that I will ever write a library for 68000 again ?
