Would you like to be in an Amiga game?

Hey everyone! Some of you might already know that we're working on a platform game for classic Amigas, which will hopefully be released this year. It's a Halloween-themed platform adventure for all ages, particularly aimed at kids. In the game, you play a girl who goes out Trick or Treating with her friend, but then all sorts of strange things happen and she has to explore a bunch of levels and battle plenty of nasty enemies. The story is revealed as you play. During the game, you meet other kids who are out trick or treating, as well as adults who answer the door in costumes and give you candy, and we'd like to offer you the chance to have your own character in the game, based on a Halloween costume you or your kids have worn before.

If you think this is a neat idea, link me a photo and our pixel artist will try his best to make a character based on the costume in the photo.

At Underground Arcade, we hope to involve the Amiga community as much as possible in our productions, so if a cutesy platform game isn't to your liking, perhaps one of our other projects may interest you. We'll reveal more about our other games later, but until then, anyone who would like to be in our Halloween Nightmare game, post us a pic!

Thanks everyone

Hey I've seen you...
You added me to MySpace the other day

Do you have any pics or anything of the game?
Did you read about the music offer?

Are you releasing these games for free?

Cheers!

Hey guys, thanks for replying, I guess I should explain a little more about the game. At the moment, I'm putting it together with Backbone, a platform game creation program, available from Aminet. I don't know how to code, and I'm not much good at pixelling, so I have a bit more free time than the other people at Underground Arcade, who are usually all very busy.

Akira, thank you for the music offer, I have read your message now, and if any of our coders ever works on some custom music loaders, I'll let you know. At the moment I can only load Protracker mods into my game. My Halloween game will be free for all to download, although Paypal donations are welcome. We might also offer a printed CD version, and maybe a boxed floppy version, if the game ever finds a real coder instead of using this Backbone engine.

We set up a blog which should have updates hopefully at least once a week, or at least whenever there's a new development. So far there's only one screenshot on the page, which isn't what the final game will look like (the score panel will be completely different). There's also an even older demo available on Aminet.

Here's a link to the blog - http://undergroundarcade.blogspot.com/

And the old, early demo - http://aminet.net/package/game/demo/...nNightmareDemo

I tried the demo and it's not half bad! Well done.

Here are some screenshots:

Keep us informed!

Oh and as for your offer, I sent you a PM.

Looks good, but are you sure you can't get a coder into working for this? you have plenty here in the board.

A boxed floppy sounds all nice and retro feel, but I hope you can install the game with WHDLoad, or it's no game. I don't use floppies anymore.

Unfortunately I can't afford to pay anyone to code the game, so unless someone volunteers, I'll have to keep using slow, buggy Backbone. We do have a few coders already with Underground Arcade, but they're currently working on projects of their own.

Fortunately, the game is already playable straight from the hard drive without the use of WHDLoad, and it also runs on a CD32 if you write a startup-sequence for it, which is why I will be able to burn a CD32 version. The floppy option was really only suggested if I can even get the game to run from floppy.
