Yes, I talk about the sfx. More precisely, the "hit" sfx. You hear it all along the game and after hearing the one from Atari, i find the amiga sample really dull. Beside that, both games seem identical.

If you need some info about P3, tell me and i'll do my best.

Concerning P2, i played it a lot too. The main difference i remember is the toss ability in P2, missing in P1.

Do you remember if elementals are the same?

I'll have to check this out in a bit.

I don't remember much about P2 as I last played that like 24 year ago. Been drinking a few times since then.

These FAQs have some hex locations, which might help out:
http://db.gamefaqs.com/computer/c64/file/phantasie.txt
http://db.gamefaqs.com/computer/c64/...antasie_ii.txt
http://db.gamefaqs.com/computer/c64/...ntasie_iii.txt

Also, EAB's Minuous has some hex locations for P1 and P3's DAT files, which he uncovered while making his editors:
http://amigan.1emu.net/releases/rpg-form.txt

Haven't loaded Phantasie III for the Amiga (as I'd have to follow up with an Atari play), but here's the awesome PC version...

Hehe... Hehehehe... ...
Ah yes, the awesomeness of the PC Beeper. I remember that Ishar 1 played a sample through the PC Speaker in the intro. It was truly awful

Just ran both platforms and noticed the difference. It seems that the ST version is higher pitched, while the Amiga is more like a bassy thud. I think it's a matter of preference and nostalgia.

I totally agree... and it's hard to change habits!

I seem to have somehow missed this thread until now. Does anyone have a copy of Nogg's fixed P3?

@Kroah:

Regarding Alternate Reality, is the info at http://bringerp.free.fr/RE/Ar/technicalNotes.php5 based on a memory dump, or is it a saved character file format? Have you analyzed the character file format on the ST? (I had a look at a saved Amiga AR character, with a view to supporting this game in my multi-game character editor, and the format seems different.)

The info is based on an Atari ST memory dump.
I don't remember if the save routine copies the raw character memory block to disk or writes the character data in a special format.
I will have a look in the disassembly.

No, only the memory data.
But it shouldn't be difficult. Usually, savegames are only data mapped from memory to disk.

You mean different from the Atari file format saved on disk or the Atari memory dump?
Did you try saving a game on ST and comparing the file with the Amiga one ?
