Fate gates of Dawn ENGLISH !

Hello,

i am very happy to bring you an excellent RPG game, unfortunately
very rare in english language, Fate Gates of Dawn.

Once again i must be really lucky because the version i won on ebay
is the Version 1.9e (disk 2 is master v1.6).

You will find the extended ADF in the zone, those are protected with
reDOS v5 filesystem created by holger Gehrmann.

To test the extended adf i have installed the game to hard drive,
and it did flawlessly.

Both installed version and original disks images in the zone for your
pleasure

Maybe we get a WHDLoad install now. Germany only wasn't interesting enough for the slave coders, as it seems.

Yes, a whdload slave would be great. Ripping the files would be very easy since
the installer has the loading routines in.

and why not a translation in other languages ?

it doesn't run on AGA machines. and the filesystem reDOS v5 is very slow.

would be nice to get an install, and maybe to correct any errors if there is some.

The disk are copyprotected

It's a nice RPG, oldfashioned but good. I' m still in hope for a slave, after seeing the WHDLoad install for this awesomly aweful "Corsarios".

yes corsarios was coded with feet lool the playability is one of the most
ugly we can see, hence it never really sold well.

I have some new informations, the game is copyprotected, doesn't run on AGA machines, and is password protected !

loool Do i stated that the game is running on AGA ?

Nope it does not ! and i have read the whole manual (english and french), the authors talks about a nasty password protection system which is triggered by a nymph during the game in a random manner. And the whole game takes up 6 megabytes of RAM if you have them right at the beginning.

Here is the wikipedia quote :

"It is notable that only the copy protection but not the password protection was removed in these copies also because the password requests are not at the start of the game but at some points in game repeated after some time. Just ignoring these requests or wrong code leads not to an abrupt end but the game becomes slowly unplayable when passwords are typed several times wrong, so that a copy of the manual is still required."

The crack of the english version has just the disk protection removed
-> crack on 3 disks by Fusion, Phil douglas has only removed the diskprotection by ripping datas and converted the longtrack routines to DOS. But the password protection has not been touched since he doesn't talk about it. Same apply for the german version.

5 guys have playtested the crack for 1 week without being able to finish it, and it's stated that the protection only triggers far in the game....

A huge challenge me say

I didn't ask if the game worked on AGA, I asked if the Installer that rips the files to hard drive works?

I am currently working on a crack for the german version and I can confirm that there is a pw protection!

As the game doesn't tell you if the answer was right or not it's not easy to check if the game is cracked properly without completing it.

Once the german version fully works, adapting the crack for the english version shouldn't be too hard I think.

If it's 100% working I might consider doing a WHDLoad patch as well. The game is nice so it deserves a WHD installer.

Don't expect anything soon though, the one who requested the crack for the german version said he will need about 1 month to complete the game.
