Yes I'm sure, that's one of the benefits of screwing up so many times I've learnt what's important and what isn't, the install drive is recorded in the registry but that value is not used. As an example of what didn't work I installed from L: (a D-Tools vSCSI drive) then patched & started the game, result: no music, I put the CD into G: (the only real optical drive), result: music, I disable G: using Starforce Nightmare and mount disc image on L:, result: music.

@Frog: Please check that the ZIP you downloaded contains a registry file called WipeoutXL.reg if it doesn't you can just copy & paste the contents or add the missing entries by hand.
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Psygnosis\Studios\WipeoutXL]
"DirectoryName"="C:\\Program Files\\Wipeout 2097"
"Source Directory"="L:\\"

There's no WipeOutXL.reg into the .ZIP

Well so, if i copy all files.swp into "directoryName" and put as "source directory" the same as "directoryName", i should have the music ?

Try downloading the ZIP again, I double checked and it's definitely in there. The music will only play from a CD/DVD drive or by using DaemonTools there is simply no other way.

I loved Rollcage, I wish they'd make another and make it available on PSN, just like the next Wipeout. Didn't really like Wipeout, I preferred Rollcage.

Rollcage is really good and a beautiful racing game.
I find it more difficult than WipeOut as sometimes it became more a fight than a race

I've got Rollcage Stage 2 on the PS1, it is an excellent game. I like Wipeout too though.

hi all

first off this is for thomas:
yes you can play many games without the original cd in the pc drive
deamon tools anyone? so you are incorrect my friend!

secondly i would search for the psx version of 2097 or xl (usa) i have both!
and just make a iso file with it with a burning program such as dvddecryptor
,yes it iso's (copy's cd roms) or game cd's or psx game cd's download here: http://www.mrbass.org/dvdrip/

then i would run wipout in ePSX or the commercial one VGS (MY FAVE)
either by the image made by dvddecryptor ie: wipeoutxl.iso , from your pc's hardrive. or using deamon tools to mount it so the emulator thinks the game is in the drive of your pc.
otherwise you could also mount the pc version using the same process.
not that thomas would have you believe it!

hope this helps

I also seem to remember that there are tools for extracting digital audio or the playstations own sound format from the disks they are on
paradox paradogs or game copyworld is your key!

another great superb fast race n blast game: n2o for ps1,a classic!

adios
sine

[quote=thomas;372306]There is no such thing. Sites which offer games without permission from the authors are illegal. Your iso is an illegal pirate copy.

man that is SO funnY, its not exactly the crime of the century, sony europe must be cacking themselves WITH APIRATE COPY OF A WELL RETRO GAME. its only a game on a cdr.. RELAX

I know the stoy had a friend of mine that tried to convince me a PowerVR card was far better than my voodoo 2 but he had a big struggle getting the thing to work and even then it was far from great. In the end he gave me the card and i ended up with several of that kind of card never used any at all ... Just wished i could use it in a mediator or so ,,, second thoughts why bother i have voodoo there too...
