Paul's old workbench 2.0 setup

I know this is a long shot, but does anyone have a copy of Paul's old Workbench 2.0 setup?

Here is a reminder of what it looked like:

http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=4992

I just thought it would be nice to have this available once more.

Could well be!

I'll take a look. Can you upload it somewhere? Or perhaps the EAB upload server?

If anyone else has any info, please come forward. Bippy might know something when he gets back as he handled Paul's A600 - plus he tends to archive everything.

I think Paul released a few versions, initially hosted over at the old EMU-UK site (I've asked in a thread over there too).

What I hope to do is update it, make it legal for public download and perhaps available on his guide site or somewhere else under his name. I know it was something Paul wanted back then , so it would be a nice touch to get this done in his memory.

Well, thanks to you marco I've nearly finished my first ever Workbench 2.0 pack for 68000 CPUs, called ClassicWB Green Amiga Alien Edition.

I started from scratch to keep it nice and clean, then transferred across Paul's files so it runs pretty much exactly as he intended. It includes Paul's programs, dockbar and hand drawn images he did in Dpaint.

Of course I've added lots of other goodies like whdload 16.8, fully confgured Dopus for all archive types and multiboot features so people can boot with max memory available. It has most of the features of the ClassicWB LITE!

Here is a pic. I'm not sure if to go with the original green colour or use the one below?

Anyway, I'm thinking of ways to put Paul's Alien influence into the setup and then have to organise a webpage.

Looks good. Is it based on WB2.1, or WB2.0? I could use a new setup for my A600.

I didn't know there was a 2.1! All I had was 2.05.

If I can get hold of a copy of 2.1, it wouldn't take long to update all the files.

I just googled it. Apparently, they snuck a final 2.1 release in that had crossdos, or that's what I read anyway.

I've got Workbench 2.1 and it's a big improvement - much more like 3.0 in terms of features and use. The install procedure itself is 100% better than 2.05, and then theres the improvements Chain mentioned.

I'll update the pack to 2.1 and then it should be good to go.

Ok, now I have two packs - one based on 2.05 and another 2.1. Not what I intended, but oh well. Seems like it's only worth making the 2.1 available.

One thing about 2.1 - they removed the "say" utility. It was fun making your Amiga swear and talk. I don't know why they didn't just leave it in for later Workbenches? It hardly took up much room.

I'm going to add "say" back in - also to the other ClassicWB's too.

Hi EmuC! Good to see you popping in. "Say" is in the copy of 2.05 I've got, but not in 2.1, so I imagine it was removed then.

It's going back in regardless. Always worth having a copy of WB1.3 for nostalgia reasons anyway!

Ok everyone, it's Green, Amiga, Alien and best of all it's up!

In memory of Paul, his envisioned Workbench 2 pack is now on the main ClassicWB site:

http://classicwb.abime.net/

I'll put an official posting in the ClassicWB forum later. Thanks to Marco for his swift help and others who've shown interest.
