Minimig sources available for download!

Seems like Dennis kept his promise and released the minimig hardware sources (a bit unusual on the amiga world LOL) so everyone is welcome to grab'em from his website:

http://home.hetnet.nl/~weeren001/

impressive work

looks like Zetr0 might actually loose his sleep/vacation time on this one

Should we organize some kind of group order for the boards?

I'd like one, but otoh I don't like the hassle of ordering a bunch and then waiting to sell the ones I don't need after I've built one..

Well I doubt some company would want to produce 30-odd boards and then post them to 30-odd customers. So it will need someone to order the lot and distribute etc.

Anyone volunteering? Thought not.... Pity cos I reckon with interest in the A.org thread there ought to be at least 30 people if not more who'd want one, depending on the price.... and whether it was assembled or just a bare board and buy your own components.

Me, I'm hopeless so an assembled board for me!!

I would love to have one of these boards, it would be fantastic to make a portable version with an LCD screen )

hmmm, theres a local SMD plant round the corner from me... i wonder if they would take small assembling orders?

*ponders this* i know they do small batch product runs (my sister works there) *under 200 units* so it maybe possible.... i may pop on down there...

problem is they may find me trying to take half of the warehouse when i leave LOL...

Can MiniMig still output a signal to a TV or is it VGA only?

It is only 50Hz output so it wont work with most LCD's.

There is a guy trying to sort out kits and pre-assembled ones over at Amiga.org

Estimates a completed one for 40 (seems rather unbelievable to me!)

if they say it will take 2 weeks to assemble, avoid LOL..

truth be said, as much as I would love a kit to home build I dont think there is enough of us here that would warrent a PCB run...

so i may just down load and etch the board at home... maybe....

Exactly so, there isn't enough volume (and probably wont be) unless someone pulls together and gets everyone's orders from every site.

Even then it would have to be made and assembled in china or somewhere to keep the costs down.

You'd have to do about 200, which means quite a big up-front investment.

That's why I suggested doing PCB's only. You can get those for reasonable prices even in western countries.
