I am not a big fan of Turrican trilogy. Frankly, I cannot understand its popularity.

Thanks for the hint, but doesn't it change Turrican into a spinning and shooting thing which is excellent in dealing with guardians? I will give it a try right a way

Yeah, works. But what is the purpose of it (next to getting into narrow corridors)? I have difficulties in destroying enemies with it.

What are the five bulbs on the left of the screen (in the panel)? They are nearly always black but sometimes they are red.

What are the power ups for? Especially those with symbol of thunder? I noticed that they probably power up laser and multiple guns or maybe the flamer thing. On the other hand, the best weapon seems to be bouncer because after loosing a life it does not lose its power.

What are the diamonds for? They are counted but is there a purpose?

the lightning symbols gives your laser beam longer reach. I mean the weapon you get when you hold the fire button pressed down.

the L symbol gives you one more laser wall (second firebutton or space)

The diamonds, have no idea and the same with the red bulbs

I know what are the diamonds for. Each 100 gives you a credit (and the bulbs represent it). In case of using the credit you lose all the points so it does not matter in our competition (the credit just make you play longer but not with the biggest score). It is written in the manual, as well as the rest of the power-ups I didn't figure out to check there

Had to learn that the hard way . Had a score of 869000 and thought "Hey, I earned a credit. Weeee. Of course I want to continue". Didn't know that this would erase my score. Will have to try again the next days .

Narr mate, thats ok!. She has now registered though per your request, and has since posted up a new score of hers under the username "bubblegirl", so it looks like you will need to get that joystick polished up and try again

As for the diamonds, they give you either an extra life or an extra continue for every 100 you collect. Its either one or the other. cant remember which, although next time i play i will pay better attention, but of course we arent allowed to use continues as you stated, and i dont plan to die enough to warrant the use of a continue anyway

And now share with us how did you manage to get such highscore? What are you doing and the rest of us is not doing? I am asking because I made it to the last world and got merely a 1/4 of your score!

I'd like to think I picked up every power-up, took out the majority of enemies and found what could be every secret in the game. I tried to find every hidden block and picked up ALL of the power-ups regardless of upgrade. Things like the hives only spew out bees for a certain amount of time and then stop, so I made a point of killing every bee etc - then destroying the hive. (This also applies to the metal balls etc..)
I finished the game with something like 38 lives left and 495 diamands..

And what about the time? You seem to be spending a lot of time in the section. Do you lose lives (by being out of time) in sake of searching for treasures and hunting the points?

With the number of lives he gets I would imagine it's worth sacrificing the odd one to get more points

My 2nd try and to be honest, i really do not know how Vermillion got 4,000,000 and only lost 2 lives due to the fact that the game usually times you out on most levels if you explore the whole area, but if the man says he did it, then trust we must.. Well Done again Vermillion

Here is my new score though, and im more than happy with it
I only "just" beat you farmarfred Evil laugh No.#3

3005700

Finished with 15 lives left, and 503 diamonds.

I'll get you next time Vermillion

This game really sucks. I still have no idea what for the time is. I ran out of time when killing boss. He exploded and I exploded. It resulted that I couldn't finish the stage

Yeah its a rare thing that, but it happened to me the other night too... I killed the boss from level 1.2 and at the same time my time ran out too, just like with you.. and it would not let me finish the level.

Keep on persevering, because like i said, its quite rare what happened to us both.. its just bad timing ..

503 diamonds blade.. well done
The amount of diamonds you finish with is a good indication of how many secret areas you have found..
But you missed a lot of extra lives it would seem.. maybe run through it again! heheh
To get 4 million+ it's important that you shoot ALL spawned enemies until they stop - then destroy it's source (bees, metal balls etc.. the last world is particuarly good for this..)
And you DO have enough time to do this in every level without dieing - providing you know the layout like the back of your hand and turn into the speedy star at every opportunity to get around quicker
FYI my final score before I incurred the big finish bonus was around 2.9 million.

In fact from memory (but dont quote me on this..), I had around 1 million at the beginning of world 2..

Yeah ive always been aware of shooting everything that spawns and wiping out the source, but i no longer know Turrican 2 like the back of my hand like i did in the old days when i first played it ( i bought the original pretty much in the 1st week it was released ). I was actually thinking about becoming the gyroscope to speed things up a bit, but i kept thinking about Turrican 1 when you were only allowed 3 per life, and didnt realise till now that in T2 they are unlimited .

I did manage to find ALOT of lives, but lost ALOT of them ... although i cannot try the game again otherwise my GF will kill me

Another trick you might want to try is with those green vines that grow from the ground. As they grow, jump up and up and up and you will find some other bonus towards their destination, although you probably knew this already

Next time Turrican 2 comes up though in a competition, i will certainly give you a run for your money, and whatever game is chosen next, you will have me there giving you hell

Great effort !!!!!

Now you are telling me

And seriously, the great scores are mostly due to that finish bonus. If I knew earlier, I wouldn't ask

My new score after completing the game:

2,527,300

Diamonds found: 418

And I advanced on the 4th position!
