What about a Modding sub forum or sticky?
Hello there my forum chummies,
I have a few linkies that i tihnk would really bennifit the modders in us all, but i have no real place to put them. and it got me thinking, the prb.hardware area has a lot of discussion about obviously problamatic hardware and setups and the pictures bit is good for analyzing boards / card ids etc, but some projects can get swamped by lots of other threads, wich is a shame to name a few the resoration project of Paul_s's A530 and the such like. problem i see is that prb.hardware is trying to be ALL things, but it doesn`t have a real area for Mods or restoration projects, wich is a shame. it would be really cool to see from case mods to board mods, to drive mods to keyboard mods. from the simple sticker mod to the hard-core re-wire half the mobo modding that the talent here has. It would also be cool if there was a wiki of sorts that would have info on compatible spray paints and coating products, compatible component replacents etc, perhaps even some common methods (like alexh suggested with soldering school!) Also a place members can post thier own projects and update as they go. ask for help and advice etc, and also forum members encouraging them to get through project blocks. I really think this could benefit the EAB community anyway its just a thought ![]() |

Perhaps another subforum under prb.hardware for projects?
We already have a wiki, I guess that might be a good place to start typing in all those hints. |

great idea ![]() i have been thinking along the same lines myself, good piccys, drawings/diagrams /talk through on what you did/ need to do, to fixit, and the parts you used/need. infact you could do the same with a sub forum in the software section aswell ![]() |

A sticky thread needs updating, a whole subforum updates itself. :-)

Yay, more sub-forums.
![]() Maybe forum software should move with the times and get rid of the folder-like sub-forum structure and start using tags instead, like everything these days seems to.

I dunno, a sub forum would be nice too...
Each forum topic containing just 1 mod and a sticky for general how-to's (ie. soldering, desoldering, cutting, etc) 'cause so many mods in 1 sticky thread may turn out to be a killer to come back and check on. (Or find that 1 thing you're looking for)

indeed, i feel a sub-forum would be great,
just off the top of my head this could contain good solid mods, like jopes panasonic drive mods (a great one there for sure) keyboard mods, case mods, system builds, restoration projects (a fantastic one done by Paul_s for his a500 expansion )... theres just so many. not to mention as Binox suggests theres tips, tricks and possible lectures for helping with a projects.I have to admit, I personally believe it would really help members get past project blocks with the support of the EAB comminuty... there could be a an EAB modderz community. ... the list and ideas are endless the more i tihnk about them... I get so excited about modding it really is in my blood, but how cool would it be if there were plans here you could down load to make your own CnC machinery with mutiple head attachments for board etching, soft model making, made with a couple of broken printers and scanner parts?! damn.... too many ideas my head might explode! |

I ended up just having one bottle of beer (mmm, Karhu) .. The most common bottles here are sized at around 0,5 of your intriguing pints. ;-)
Maybe it's better for my "back into shape"-efforts if I skip on the pizza like a good boy. |

OK I've changed my mind. As long as it is properly organised so that once all the "mutual mental masturbation" over a project is done, the project can be tidied up and the results shown in an uncluttered thread, then we could have a helluva decent resource.
I was thinking, the A1200/DVD/CD projects, great to show how it was done but without all the "wooot, great job, how did you persuade the Mrs" posts??!!

Yeah I agree that there's quite a lot of chatting going on in those modding threads..
I'm also along the lines that the finished project threads could be tidied up and closed. |

Don't tell her about them and do them in the secret workshop.. lol (Or wait for her to be out with friends
)... Not that I have any experience hiding expensive/big projects from my fianceé... ![]()
