I had a 256meg Lexar this didnt work. As above SanDisk seem to work! Bought a 4 gig one and this worked straight away. Should have saved 4 hours of faffing about with the incompatible one!

Get adfblitzer, cfd , fat95 and cardpatch, cardreset off aminet. That all you really need.

No. It is the wrong way. CF -> PCMCIA, not PCMCIA -> CF.

You mean you formatted the CF card with an amiga-filesystem and you are trying to read it on the amiga with a PCMCIA adapter?

The mountlist for CF0 is for use with fat-formatted cards.
If you want to use it with an amiga-formatted card, you have to make a mountlist yourself.
I used giggledisk (from aminet) for this, and it works like a charm with my Sandisk UltraII 2GB CF card.

If you are using PCMCIA then you need fat95 and cfd from Aminet - then format your card in Xp using fat16 or fat32. Also if you have an 8Mb expansion card, try disabling 4Mb of it as most are not PCMCIA friendly!

Otherwise you need a CF-IDE adaptor and you can format it in WinUAE and it will work on your miggys IDE port!

Perhaps your 8GB card is just not compatible anyway.
I['d use a 4GB Transcend @ 133Mhz.
I had problems with a Kingston 8gb 133x... These green ones.
It doesn't work on the PCMCIA slot, only internally on the IDE-CF-

I think i would need to go for a couple of 8gb Sandisk AtaII cards, any good place to get'em?

Hi kocoman, and welcome to EAB.

This tool is very difficult to track down. I think I remember reading somewhere that it is included on the Ultimate Boot CD. However, I haven't yet got around to checking whether it's true.

I got my EasyADF kit today but I'm having some problems.
It's like the PCMCIA adapter wont fit in the Amiga, it's like it wont go all the way into the cardreader in the A1200.
I installed a switch so I can turn off the extra 4mb on the ram expansion, it's set to 4mb so it wont block the PCMCIA port.
Is it really that tricky to make it fit properly ?

I tried to use a cf-card on PCMCIA port, but the card is not recognized,
then this means my card is not compatible?
I have installed "CFD" and "FAT95" and formated the card in Windows to fat32(Quick format).
Maybe i have missed something, any help?
By the way the CF-card is a "CnMemory 2GB".
My "Blizzard 030/50MHz should not cause any problems, is it right?

@mai,

I don't think you've done anything wrong there, and you're right - the Blizzard shoouldn't cause a problem.

It does rather look like the CF card is not compatible.

Try another card, it might be incompatible. We have found that it varies from rev to rev. Some cards work on all revs, while some only work on 1 or 2.

Can you see the CF card as CF0: in format utility?
Is it even mounting the CF0?

Yep, that seems to confirm that the CF card is incompatible and you'll have to try another card, mai.

Users' experience indicates that SanDisk cards are the most compatible devices.

Is it possible with a boot disc, to turn an PCMCIA compact flash adaptor in a hard disk?

Or can this only be done through the IDE-Compact Flash route?

I have an Amiga 600.

Thanks

It is possible. But not to boot from the PCMCIA CF. As storage device the rig is OK.

I have been using Generic SanDisk adapter with 32MB and 256MB CF cards no problem with drivers from Aminet. I'm using it to transfer files from PC to Amiga.

Hiya,

Stay away from this CF!!

It does NOT work on the PCMCIA !! (did not try this on the CF->IDE)...
I think its a 'removable type' CF (not fixed disk mode)... as my divIDE (on the Spectrum) cannot recognize it too...

I can confirm this, these cards suck at pcmcia slot usage. They work fine as HDD using CF->IDE adapter though.

I just got one standard A600 with 37.300 roms and haven't tried to connect HDD to it yet. But from the post around I guess the chances of working are quite slim. On the other hand I'm not that experienced with Amigas so a premade ADF with PCMCIA support would be very welcome

Always worth a try. It's not so black and white with 37.300, just remember that it MAY be why your HD is not compatible.

Hello ,

I've bought a pcmcia adaptator kit from amigakit , I installed the softawre coming with , plugged the adaptor first with a "Hamma" CF card and my A600 froze after loading workbench....

Then , Davideo (really nice person) sent me another CF card,a "Iomega" , i plugged it in my adaptator , my workbench loaded well and showed me the card as NDOS disk , so i formated it in windows in fat32 , replugged it in my adaptator and...refreeze !!

I can see both cards in "prepcard" but it's not posible to format them , "no disk present in CF0"

My config is : A600 rom 3.1 , Bloodwych classic workbench for 3.1 rom , 2mb chip and (when not trying to use the adaptator) 4mb fast pcmcia ,ide CF adaptator with 1gig CF.

Is my config a problem ?
Should i buy a Sandisk CF card ?

This is really

I tried and put the one from A1200 - 4GB in size. On power up the screen stays black (dark gray) and nothing happens. Since that CF is configured with SFS file system and IDE-FIX97 could this be a problem? I don't have any spare CF to reconfigure it for A600 at the moment.
