A tip for future polls:
1. when you can select only one option, there are circles to click on, and each time you click on one, the one you've clicked gets selected - if you've had one selected before it get's unselected.
2. when you have multiple options to select, there are squares next to them, and in each - you click - a tick appears.

And as for the Japanese, we all know they're a twisted bunch who consider almost anything entertainment (seen their reality tv shows?). They have an essentially dehumanised society and the commercial success of silly phenomena like Pokemon is proof of their low standards. They have made some good games, but their games offer the player no real freedom and have an "on-rails" feeling, especially as regards code-of-conduct. And I don't think Amigas were even sold there, were they?
Thats the most uncalled for, racist comment I've ever seen on this board... dont talk about something you dont have a clue about, matey!

I live out here, and the way people live is so much better than over back home (in England)... Yes they have "crazy" TV shows... but thats entertainment. - you may say that its insane, but look at Jackass... they go WAY over the line - changing entertainment into more of a freakshow.

English TV? You can FORGET! .. Soaps ... soaps soaps... news ... bleh. its so DEPRESSING!

Pokemon is popular with kids over here, thats where it stops... From highschool - adults they still watch anime but more adult / drama style, and also read a load of manga too (comics)... much different from denace the menace and pokemon mind- each usually having a DEEP story.

My favs:
Initial D http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Initial_D
Beck http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BECK:_Mongolian_Chop_Squad

Now back to the topic... If it WASNT for the Japanese gaming industry, we wouldnt have any choices outside FPS/ endless racing games that are similar etc, and the quest for "realism". What you've failed to look at is over here, theyre more into GAMEPLAY and FUN / / a few steps away from REALISM and GRAPHICS....

see: Katamari Damacy
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katamari_Damacy

Currently in the arcade, there are 10 arcade machines stuck together just soley for playing Mahjong... and theyre always being used! ... Tekken 5 DR is still being played... The air hockey table is still as popular.... A newish version of Metal Slug is out (yep, same graphics but still as fun!), and them rhythm games are still as popular (no, not just DDR, but guitar freaks, taiko no tatsujin, DJing, etc)

ps: No, I dont think Amigas were sold in Asia, just in Europe and America. ... however a few famous Japanese musicians have used Amigas to create their music in the past

pps: RE: the "rails" thing... Most, if not ALL games follow a way to do everything, ... "Deus Ex" or the "GTA" series were the only games for the PC that I felt I could have an impact of how to get to the goal, but its still going the same direction with the story.... If you'd have played more more different games you'd probably realise there's a load of games where you can choose the way to get to the goal... Heres a couple:

River City Ransom on the NES (recently completed)
Final Fantasy *any FF game!* : Playstation, NES, SNES

will add more but i cant be arsed at the mo

I'm a dirty pervert

Adult game is not just 1 genre. I hate all those stupid games where yuo play a game and get a not very well made picture of a naked girl (like most strip poker and games like that).
But I love those good adult game with an erotic theme, like Biing, Farmers Daughter etc

But adult games is also games like Resident Evil, Silent Hill etc

else I voted for adventure (The best genre) rpg and puzzle (bubble)

I voted for pretty much all the joystick/pad controlled genres, as well as Adventure, card and gambling.

I voted for card games because I learned how to play Poker from playing Vegas Gambler and Lost Dutchman Mine on the A500 when I was a kid, (and Cover Girl Strip Poker when I was a teen, which was always popular with my mates) and today I have my own poker table set up in my makeshift games room (my garage) where my mates come around every month for a big poker night.

And to break up the poker, we play the CD32, so I think arcade style multiplayer games are great.

My vote is for Shoot-'em-up, but I like Action, Arcade, platforms games too. I am not good with adventure games without a walkthrough, I have little patience, and card games, well, maybe a poker game for a while.
I think that for an adventure games is better a PC and for action, arcade, etc... games an Amiga.
The same game is more fun played in an Amiga than with a PC+ Sound Blaster, I am refering those games that appeared in later 80ґs, like Menace, Double Dragon or Test Drive, Lemmings,...

Arcade, shoot em up and simulation for me.

The Amiga had some wonderful arcade games and adrenaline pumping shooters, and for many years I loved its flight simulators, with M1 Tank Platoon being a favourite tank simulator.

I've got a feeling that if this poll wasn't public there would have been a lot more votes for adult...

I only voted for simulation.. It was my absolute favorite (and I'm a little hung over and didn't notice I could pick more than one thing...). I'd often have to weed out some of the lamer games to make room, but I never deleted a 3D game. F-15 Strike Eagle II and Fighter Duel were probably my favorites.
