I think you need a blank disk.. can't you just insert a normally formatted one? I've forgotten, I don't think you need to do anything special.

You need a formatted disk image, meant for save games. But why not just use ScummVM? I think it supports the amiga version?

yes, ScummVM supports the Amiga version of this game except there's no sound/music..for me music is an important part of this game

I play this game from HD in WinUAE.
In the zone, (The_Secret_Of_Monkey_Island.hdf)
No save disk needed.

The music is an important part and the Amiga version is definitely the best

About a year ago I found sound / music for use in ScummVM that was ripped from the Amiga version. I thought I grabbed this from The Monkey Island SCUMMBar but couldn't find it again when I had a quick look tonight

Anyway, I uploaded the files that I have in my ScummVM installation: ScummVM_Monkey_Amiga_Audio.rar. Just extract these into the same folder where you keep your ScummVM - Amiga - The Secret of Monkey Island files and all is good

Personally though, I still play this through WinUAE or on a real Amiga and not ScummVM

You and a real Amiga, Damien?

Just kidding, right?

Play WHDLoad versions, guys. There is no excuse, since Gamebase supports it too !!!!

thanks for uploading the files but I'm going to play this game through WinUAE. It just seems less hassle to me right now.

did anyone play the PC version? I seem to recall it had better graphics (256 colours?) but that the music was inferior to the Amiga's.

the best music u can get from Monkey Island is using a Roland GS card/module, like the LAPC-I ... though at the time that card/module costed as much as the whole amiga, LOL

listen to the title mp3 here ...

Well, there's a later version of MI1 that uses the same updated engine as MI2 - with icons instead of a text-based inventory. I think it's the one on the Monkey Island Madness pack.

The PC CD edition has nice CDDA tracks and 256 colors, like the FM-Towns version. It has the newer Scumm GUI from Monkey Island 2 too.

Big grin Found it!

Hi,

The above thread wasn't exactly very helpfull in finding out how to save my MI game in WinUAE.

In another thread on another forum about another game they told someone to create an empty disk (which you can do using the Floppy Drives tab in your WinUAE configuration - press F12 to get there).
This disk MUST be called "save" (without the quotes).

Then you load this disk and can then save your game.

Have fun!!

gr,
Paul

Look at the size of that thing!

It does sound VERY good though I have to admit.
