...knew some comment like that was going to be posted sooner or later

Let me explain... I had just finished reading some WinUAE threads and went off to bed. Trying to get to sleep but the room kept spinning

Mind wonders as it does when drunk and given the fact that I'd just read WinUAE threads, I had the sudden inspiration to create this thread as sometimes I think we forgot to praise Toni enough for all his hard work / dedication

Toni you are like a god walking amongst mere mortals. All that you have done for the emulation community for Amiga is astounding. I dunno what we'd do without you.

I've got to agree with everything that's been said.

I discovered UAE prior to the 0.8 series (maybe 0.6) and since then, it's come leaps and bounds and is now comparable to actual Amiga's. I myself used to have many Amiga's laying about, however due to space, I got rid of them but only after I knew WinUAE could handle everything, which it can for my needs (some games, some development, etc).

When Toni took over development, the core seems to have become a lot more stable, an abundant number of features were implemented, it's much more compatible and the user friendliness of it all has become a major feature in itself. Additionally, Toni is superb when it comes to support. Authors of other emulators can learn a thing or two (MAMEDev come to mind...as great as the development is, they're sitting on their high horses and refuse to come down ).

Thanks for everything you've down for the emulator and the community Toni!

I lost my amiga to my brother a long time ago, so use WinUAE all the time. I wouldn't be on this board now if not for the incredible hard work from Toni and others. Thanks just doesn't convey the gratitude I and many others have for people like Toni.

If I ever meet you Toni, the drinks are on me.

Toni is an absolute legend! It's great how he both interactively listens to others ideas on improvements and combines it with what is interesting to make the emulation more accurate. There should be more developers like him, so professional too even if it's a silly question!

And he does it all without asking anything!

Actually, I think WinUAE is better than sliced bread.

Although I'm a low profile forum visitor, I couldn't resist to chip in as well. Toni's work on winUAE is simply astonishing. Of all the emulators I have in use, winUAE is simply the most configurable and the most friendly emulator around (friendly as in, if you know how amiga's need to be configured, but you all know that).

Nothing but praise from this side !!

Agreed, In general, respect for people and what they do in life has been lost over the passing years. A good topic for someone so drunk...maybe I should try it.. Congrats to Toni for making such a wonderful emulator. Give yourself a pat on the back Toni or give Damien some more alcohol to see what else he will say... I just visited the winuae site today and noticed the date of the winuae news as 13/05/07. Remarkable Toni, the dedication you have given for the amiga scene. Toni, people are proud in what you are doing, and for that everyone here respect you. I hope with all of these comments it gives you the strength and determination to continue this project of yours. The Amiga is loved, and with your help and everyone here it will never be forgotten...

Pass the tissues...

Seriously though, not only is WinUAE an incredibly high-quality piece of software with an enormous amount of dedication and effort put into it, I'm not sure there would even be an EAB if it didn't exist, such is its impact on our community. Without WinUAE I don't think so many people would have got back into the Amiga that's for sure. For that reason alone I'm eternally grateful to Toni.
