Barry Walkers Amiga Rant

Barry has written a new blog for the CRYPTmag website about his views on his preference for using an Amiga over an all-singing all-dancing PC.

Why I Choose to Use An Ancient AMIGA In Preference To Current Platforms.

It's not far off reading like a letter in Amiga Format or CU Amiga 8-10 years ago.

Because someone prefers an older computer to a new one, you call him retarded? Thats very short sighted. Everyone has the right to use what hardware and OS they prefer.

It`s what you do with your time on the computer that matters, surely? Barry likes to write new projects for the Amiga on his. That sort of dedication has to be applauded and encouraged.

Well, you could also put it here. Now that he's reading this thread.

Those that wrote puerile comments about me on AMIGA related
sites HAVE proven to me conclusively that there IS NO AMIGA
COMMUNITY AT ALL and if this is what the AMIGA community is
all about then I am bloody glad I ain't part of it!
He lumps together all of the Amiga community just because of those few negative comments ? Seems to be a great guy...

I will agree with Barry Walker on his comments. Some of the things that are written on this forum about him and other area's of the Amiga are very weak and pathetic. Im not trying to say i hate EAB, i like it alot, but there really isnt much of an Amiga Community left anymore.

The guy is right. Calling someone a retard when you know fuck all about them and their preference has absolutely no merit. It doesnt help, it serves no-one, its weak, its a useless comment...

Respect the guy for his choices. Ok, so its also a choice to bad mouth someone, but thats not something you can respect.

Alot of people on here wont agree with me. Well, thats just how it goes hey.

I forget the exact wording, but the key points I made to the big sook were:

1. He rants about cowardly cads bagging him on the Amiga forums who don't have the guts to tell him directly on his magazine - then gets stuck into them on his magazine, not on their Amiga forums...

2. He boasts about playing the Clarinet?

3. He rants and raves about his post being intended to "stir up emotion", but the only one getting emotional is him.

I particularly like the list of life achievements. Hmmm, let's see - would I rather....

Play the Clarinet, dabble in electrical engineering (hello ladies!), write software for 10yo kids and write for magazines, or....

Marry a ballet dancer, earn megabucks by sitting behind a big desk and telling people what to do, enjoy the food/ wine/ hospitality/ accomodation at the world's finest private clubs, travel the world and get paid to do it (not in economy either, Bazza), make a critical difference to struggling primary producers who are being screwed by major corporations, and take the piss out of people who think they are awesome because they play the Clarinet and write for magazines?

My 15 month old son has a more highly developed sense of self-worth than this chump change.

Anyway, I play the Piano. Pianists always pulled better chicks than Clarinet players.

I wonder if this post (designed to spark an emotional response) will be up to the task?

Calling him a retard was definitely going a bit too far.

EDIT: Posted at same time at Shillard. I do agree with a lot of your comments though, I nearly mentioned number 1 myself. His article didn't seem to have much of a point to it.

Right....

Can we just skip forward to the part where you spit your dummy halfway to Mars, swear never to return to the forum (again), and vanish for a couple of weeks?

Its late, I'm being called to bed.

If it walks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck....

Bazza didn't hesitate to call people:

- Backstabbers
- Tick Turds
- Smart Arses
- Cowards
- Liars
- Cheats

Etc.

Pretty gay, if you ask me - what with all the rectal and scatalogical inferences.
