Question Spellbound Dizzy - CRASHING???

FINALLY I found a copy of Spellbound Dizzy bundled as "Dizzy's Excellent Adventures", with Panic Dizzy (I haven't played that one yet though). This copy is Fairlight cracked. Now, whenever I find the Aqualung and try to "change into swimming gear", the game freezes for about 7 seconds, then crashes back to good ol' 1.3 kickstart boot up

Question - does anyone have a working ADF of Spellbound Dizzy (alone or as part of a bundle, I don't mind )? I found an old forum on here where "Andreas" had posted it up to "The Zone" but when I looked it wasn't there, I assume it's time had expired. I also found a forum all in Russian where, as far as I could tell, some poor old Russian bloke had the same problem as me LOL

I just want to see Dizzy put his swimming gear on! (Actually, I wouldn't mind being able to complete the damn game!)

(New member BTW, this is my first post, I'm counting on the friendly peeps on here to be able to help me )

Well, it took a bit of playing, but I managed it

I'm not using an ADF. I'm using an IPF (basically, a 1:1 copy of an Amiga disk image, so all protection is intact). It works with the IPF (see the attached screenshot). I did that to test to see if the game may have problems with certain configs. I'm using the GBAmiga config (http://gbamiga.elowar.com/) and it works fine.

My recommendation is to get hold of the IPF file (not allowed to be requested here btw. Try asking in IRC. The link is in the banners at the top of the screen). The IPF will be guaranteed to work. If any issues arise, it'd be in your config. As I said, the GBAmiga config works fine, so you can try that if you'd like.

Hope that helps!

re: Spellbound Dizzy - CRASHING

Jason - thanks for the info, and for the swift reply
I didn't know there was such a thing as an IPF file. I'm using WinUAE 0.9.92 (I know - I should probably upgrade it but it's working just fine so if it ain't broke, don't fix it LOL). But - you now provoke 2 questions from me:
1. Will WinUAE run an IPF file?
2. Where did you get yours from (if you can't request them on here) ?
and I guess, 2a... Any chance you could send it to me?

(It's rather agonising seeing a working screenshot from someone else you know! )

Thumbs up Spellbound Dizzy - NO LONGER CRASHING! :D

Just a quick note to thank people who PMd me and replied on here - now I have a working copy and the Egg walking around dressed as a SCUBA diver

Now I'm off to read the interview with A Axelsson (Digital Illusions) http://www.lemonamiga.com/interviews/andreas_axelsson/

and have a look at the screenshot competition I found on another thread (I don't recognise any of them tho LOL)

Thanks very much to everybody who replied so fast!

Hi there

Sorry to resurrect an old post. I've spent the past (far too many) months compiling my all-time favourite collection of Amiga games and I'm nearly there. It's been a mammoth quest trying to find fully working ADFs of everything - my original Amiga disks died a death a long time ago, so everything ended up being dragged from the net.

The only one I'm currently struggling with is Spellbound Dizzy. My web searches brought me to this forum, and to this post where someone else has encountered the same scuba diving problem as I have.

If anyone can help me in the same way they helped the previous poster I would be very grateful indeed. I'm not entirely sure how the situation was resolved last time round, so apologies in advance if I'm making people repeat themselves.

I too would like to see Dizzy in his swimming gear.

Well, whatever rocks your boat etc. Ahem.

Many thanks.

PS am running WinUAE 1.2.0 (32 bit)
