Just Installed a Subway USB Device

Installed into an A1200 Desktop - What a great device... after a bit of Dremel case cutting work and sanding I got it installed and thought I would post a couple of pictures to see what people think - maybe the pictures will offer a little advice to anyone thinking of buying one as to where to position the four USB inputs...

eerr... how do I insert pictures into threads?

All I need now is a nice Magic Workbench Icon Image for my USB memory stick...

Also can anyone recommend a USB printer that would work with the Subway?
I'm only after a small printer to connect to the Amiga and thought now I have USB I may as well use it...

@Peter

Awsome work, i cannot wait to see these modding pics

man i really need to get USB for my miggy!!

anyways!!!
there two ways that i know of to add a picture, you can add it as an attachment, wich is the quickest , but if you wish to reference it within your post, you will need to reference it externally.

such like (added spaces to see the text)

" [ img ] h t t p ://www . guildserver.co.uk/data_images/schematics/A500KB/a500kb.PNG[ / i m g ]"

you should have some webspace free with your ISP, most give some free if you upload your image to there, if not there are plenty that offer free hosting, you can then reference it here like i have

I am not sure what printer i could recomend,

hope it helps Peter

I have added some pictures...

First Picture is of the Subway Clockport fixing...

Next a little bit of work with the Dremel...

Three rear internal ports...

Side USB port fixing...

Back on with the lid...

Side View 1...

Side View 2...

Side View 3...

Side View 4...

When mounting the rear three ports you need to take care so as not to offend the keyboard ribbon, the floppy ribbon and the hard drive mounting bracket.

I'm pleased with the result - now I need to get some more USB Devices!

I think I have managed to upload the pictures at a decent size now so I have edited the last thread...

I forgot to mention... I had a bit of a result with this Subway, I saw it on Ebay - Boxed and unused - Buy it Now for 35 - I thought that was pretty good - makes a change for me to get a bargain...

If anyone else is using USB on their Amiga can they recommend me some other USB devices that they have working... a USB printer, mouse, Web Cam etc...

I would be interested to know what you have up and running...

Peter, as per Zetr0's comments, do you have pics of the tools used? You mentioned it was a dremel - what kind of tip was used to cut the plastic and smooth it etc?

I was wondering how I would mod the case to do the same thing - I had the idea to put the ports at the top back and coincidentally just found this thread which is perfect! Though I would look at 2 external and 2 internal ports (1 connected to a USB-ethernet adapter where the LAN part goes external)

I bought myself a pack of "Needle" Files because although the dremel was useful to drill the initial holes I found that I needed to work very much at my own pace during this work not the dremel's pace.

Something like these...

Once you have marked out exactly where your ports are going to mount and you have marked out in pencil on the casing a plan, drill initial holes with either a dremel or a very small drill - make enough holes in each area to allow the needle files to enter the space - continue with these tools, finishing the job with some very fine emery paper.

Keep testing the slots you are filing for size - don't take away too much casing.
Take your time as one slip and you can damage the casing.
